Editing my review since it's been a few years: this has easily become our new favorite spot for sushi, whether it be dining in or take out. The staff is always friendly, and everything is delicious and fresh. Just a note: the space inside is small, only a handful of tables.
I'm sorry it say it was very underwhelming. The sashimi was half frozen when it was brought to the table. The service was verrrry slow for an almost empty time, but the staff was courteous and gave complimentary treats to make up for it. Although the staff was nice, I will not be going back.

The best sushi spot near my home! The sashimi is always so fresh, the sushi rolls taste great, and we always get two free fried California rolls. The salmon, tuna, and shrimp always taste so great. The service is amazing, everyone is so nice, it's such a cute spot with high quality sushi!

I have gone to this establishment before and never had an issue until today. We ordered shrimp tempura and my daughter started eating one and quickly spit it out and showed me little black things inside. We quickly broke open another one and I was the same thing. I went back and showed the woman at the counter and asked for a refund for that item. I told her she could credit my card or give cash, whatever worked easiest for her. She seemed a little annoyed that brought it back but said she would need to void the transaction to refund. She was messing with the register then says it’s not working I’ll give you store credit only. I expressed I did not want a store credit I wanted it back on my card or cash back. She then proceeded to raise her voice at me telling me not to order that item again and that no one has ever complained about any item EXCEPT for YOU!!!! she kept saying over and over. I was still calm and simply said ok that’s fine if no one else has ever complained. I am 100% sure if someone saw what I saw inside the shrimp they would have an issue as well. I also let her kno she didn’t have to worry about what I may or may not order again because I absolutely will not be patronizing this establishment again. I like to give business to all our local business’ but Ginger Sushi will not b one of them. Here attitude was totally uncalled for and disgusting. Ginger Sushi is one of my favorite places. The sushi is fresh and delicious, the service is exceptional. Everyone who works here is incredibly inviting and kind. I have been going to Ginger Sushi for probably around 10 years and the quality is always consistent. If you live in Fanwood or Scotch Plains please go check out my favorite gem Ginger Sushi.

Unappetizing sashimi. Large poor cuts of fish, poor attention to detail in the wraps, dry teriyaki chicken. Overall disappointing experience for a $70+ takeout.

Top sushi choice in the area!Words cannot describe how great Ginger Sushi is. Food is fantastic and the fish is fresh and perfectly cut. Highly recommend the salmon sashimi, Andy roll, SST roll, and fried California roll. You truly can’t go wrong with any of the options.The staff is fantastic. Always a welcoming space!
