Excellent food, service and ambiance. There is great attention to detail in seasoning, freshness of ingredients and presentation. Desserts are also fantastic. Highly recommended!

Wow is simply too small a word to describe this place. Out in the middle of a residential area in a non descript strip mall. But don't be fooled. The food is AMAZING. the owner makes it himself with his wife and let me tell you unbelievable food. Its a must try.

I was looking to try a new restaurant on Wednesday night when I found “Gabbar”.. I was like interesting name & when I looked into menu & saw - Litti Choka- famous dish from Bihar state of India— I had to go & try this restaurant right away.. We made the reservation & were greeted by husband wife (chef & owners) of restaurant. They were super nice & explained us their take on food & dishes .. We ordered Aloo Tikki, litti chokha & Nga Soke lone Hin which a Burmese dish ( fish kofta in curry).. first arrived Aloo tikki which is potatoes cake with chutney [chef had them as 3 crisp cakes with 3 different chutneys)- a good start - then came the star dish-litti chokha ( spice filled dumplings) with eggplant & potatoes mash- it was amazing— very unique flavors- excellent dish & then fish koftas which were good too but Litti chokha is the star dish of this restaurant.. We are so glad that we have found an Indian restaurant which is focusing on regional cuisine/ dishes & trying to do something different as these dishes take tremendous amount of effort & techniques unlike standard orange looking curries.. We can’t wait to come back & try more dishes.. A hidden gem.. Go try it out & you won’t be disappointed— A MUST TRY!!!

Great food & great staff... I highly recommend Gabbar if you're in the area and enjoy Indian cuisine. It's easily the best I've ever had and you couldn't ask for friendlier, more helpful owners and staff.

Had really delicious food each time. Very creative menu, not the usual Indian restaurant menu items. Food is cooked fresh after you place the order.

I'm a big fan of Indian food. This is the new best place in town. The prices are very reasonable. The owner co-runs the place with his wife. They're really wonderful people and they treat their employees well. The man told me he loves when a plate comes back empty. If a plate comes back to his kitchen with food on it, he wants to hear from his customers how he can improve their experience. It's very important to him that everyone has the best dining experience. He also told me everything is made per order. No hoards of frozen sauces and things in the back. All made fresh. It came so highly recommended that I had to try it out immediately. I got Buttered Chicken and my husband got Biryani(sp?). The balance of spices was flawless. Super flavorful, but nothing was overpowering. The spicy dish wasn't just fire hot. It was just the right amount spice and richness. For both of us, only $35 including tip, and we had leftovers. We'll be back...tonight.

Delightful Indian and Burmese place. The owner/chef took some time to explain the menu and suggested options to enjoy a taste of a range of Indian cuisine. Very enjoyable!

The food was interesting and different. The environment is cozy. But please make your reservations or go on a week night. It's definitely worth a visit. BYOB.

Growing up just down the road from the building that now houses Gabbar, I never would have imagined a restaurant this interesting just down the street. I came back to Hillsborough for a visit, saw the "Gabbar - A Culinary Odyssey" sign, made a reservation and loved the place. Not only was the Indian cuisine interesting and delicious, the chef and owner came out to every table to chat, explain things and make us feel like family. If you are hungry, cruising up 206 and are in the Hillsborough area pull off and head for Gabbar.

Finally stopped into Gabbar for takeout the other night - huge portions, delicious food! Will definitely be back.

What a hidden gem this place is. Great food. Someone told me the prices are a bit higher but I found them reasonable specially compared to the portion size, very generous portions. So many novelties. Have tried kebabs in many places in jersey but this place takes it at another level. Litti chokha is a surprising delight. We were planning for Sunday brunch but the place opens only for dinner so that's a bummer. Hope they open up all day atleast on weekends. Do try the Burmese dishes not the same indo Chinese food we get everywhere . We tried the fried rice-Kyaw Hcarr Saan and the chicken chilly both were very different then the usual indo Chinese. Biryani also was very flavorful and unlike most Indian places which are very heavy on garam masala this biryani was actually tasty. We had good old tea which was served in a nice tea pot and elegant cups. Desserts we had the chocolate temptation which was good too.
