We walked in Monday after a concert to get a beer. The older woman ignored us with cash in hand & standing by the bar. She then went in the back out of ear shot as she was doing paper work. This went on for 10-15 mins. She is costing you $. She is either the owner or a relative.

Hoppy's it's all bullshit

It's like a longshoreman's bar Bayside by the boats. It's a shame to hear it's possibly going away. They should fight to keep this bar open. Great spot. Great atmosphere.

We originally pulled up to the bar across the street to play pool but it was packed. I took a chance and was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed this place. The pool table takes $1 bills, the bar tender was EXCELLENT, the drinks were reasonably priced, the bar pie was good and the outdoor deck has a ton of potential- it overlooks the marina.

I lived here for 30 + years / never knew about this place. Needless to say; I'll be back for sure

The food is good. But the rest of The experience was horrible. They had one good waitress. The owner was intoxicated or seemed intoxicated staff was also drinking. People were going in and out of the kitchen I couldn’t tell if they were employees or not. The railings were broken to go up the stairs. All in all this place is in need of a bar rescue

Can't say anything bout the food; it wasn't being served by the time we were there (around 930-10pm). Alcohol selection was scarce; the outdoor bar apparently didnt even have any ice cuz the machine broke. And as for the bartender/owner that was working the back?.... without a doubt the most surly, disagreeable & obnoxious woman I've ever met at a Bar (Jersey or otherwise). Maybe the locals love her & sympathize, but good luck getting new ppl to stick around. I can chalk it up to just being a bad night... but it's not one I'd bother trying to do-over.

Stumbled on this place.
The waitress outside on the deck was very friendly and best part of the evening.

My garlic shrimp and linguine was tasty except that it literally swam in oil which made me leave majority of the pasta.

The grilled cheese and fries were good.

The diet coke was flat but guess a bar doesn't sell much soda......lol

The view was amazing and was very quiet out on the deck.

Up The Creek Tavern: A Disappointing Experience

My recent visit to Up The Creek Tavern left me with a sour taste in my mouth, and not just from the lack of food or drink. Despite the inviting ambiance of the establishment, my friends and I were met with hostility and unnecessary confrontation.

Upon entering the tavern, we were immediately made to feel unwelcome by a lady who appeared to be a staff member. Despite our intentions to simply grab a bite to eat, we overheard her informing the bartender that we "didn't look 21 years old". While it's understandable for establishments to adhere to legal drinking age policies, it's important to note that we weren't planning on imbibing any alcohol – we just wanted to enjoy a late-night meal.

When we politely approached the lady to inquire about being seated for food only, her response was shockingly dismissive and aggressive. She adamantly refused our request, leaving us feeling embarrassed and unwelcome. Her demeanor was entirely uncalled for, and it's disheartening that she chose to handle the situation in such a confrontational manner.

Ultimately, we were left with no choice but to hastily vacate the premises, feeling as though we were treated unfairly and without respect. While the tavern may boast a charming atmosphere, the unpleasant encounter we had overshadowed any positive aspects of our visit.

In conclusion, I cannot recommend Up The Creek Tavern based on my recent experience. Hospitality and customer service should be paramount in any establishment, and unfortunately, this was sorely lacking during our visit.
