Jack’sDonuts

We started going to Jack’s Donuts after tiring of our existing choices that rotated amongst area diners back around Winter-Spring 2000 just as the pandemic was getting started. We’d seen the sign so many times while heading home via the White Horse Pike from Atlantic City, Hammonton, or other locations towards the shore.
We liked the food, the people and the cozy small shop atmosphere. It became the place we headed to most often and for the past few years, weekly. We’ve met and befriended many skilled craftsman and contractors who we’ve employed for large and small jobs on the house.
I first heard about breakfast sandwiches under the name “fried egg sandwich” from the book “Duct Tapes 80” which I read in the early 80s. The idea did not appeal to me. Over the decades since, I started getting breakfast sandwiches from cafeterias at work, NYC corner kiosks, and diners. Getting older meant that I’ve dropped the sausage and bacon toppings (most of the time) and settled on egg and cheese with black pepper on wheat toast, as pictured.
The donuts here are superior the offerings from major chains which are taking over everywhere. The donuts are made fresh every morning, not in factory. The food is great and we love the that instead of being sequestered in a booth, we see, hear, and meet with the customers.
Try it, you might like it too.

Upon walking in, we were greeted by two friendly faces who took to serving us well. Unfortunately, once we placed our order, everything went south. After 10 minutes of waiting for our food, I was given my toast. Thinking I would soon be getting my eggs, I prepared and ate my 1st slice. We then waited nearly 20 more minutes before our food came out of the kitchen. We were the only couple there besides one who had already finished eating. While waiting, several people came in for sandwiches to go and were served quickly ahead of us.

When we were finally served our food, I got excited for about 3 seconds. I saw peppers and onions in my potatoes and thought to myself, "This will be worth the wait." NOPE! Aside from the peppers, there was no flavor. They weren't seasoned at all. And to my bitter disgust, everything was cold except a small part of the potatoes in the center, and my eggs were lukewarm. My single sad slice of scrapple was cooked on one side and the soggy side flopped over my potatoes. My poor wife got cold, dense pancakes with ice cold syrup out of the fridge to cover them and the same potatoes that I had.

If it weren't for the fact that we were there to use a Clipp certificate, we would have just left. But I was too hungry to wait another 30 minutes for a repeat. So we bit the bullet, ate what we got, and left that place in our rear view mirror.

I couldn't even get donuts to try because all they had left were 3 gross options at 11:30 in the morning.

Jacks Donuts is under new management! Lana is the new manager and this place is wonderful. Today, my wife and I came in for brunch and was welcomed with open arms. She had the Grilled Cheese with Bacon and I had the Combo#2 which comes with Pancakes, 2 eggs, and a choice of meat, I choose Bacon. I hooked it up and turned it into something more. (Photo Displayed). I’ll definitely be coming back here.

Changing my last review, again, unfortunately a two hour wait on 4 orders for take out, they pushed my order last while I waited from 11:03 to 1pm , lunch was on the menu in my mind by then. When you spend over $114.00 On breakfast and tip generously up front you expect to be made priority. Owner said she’ll make it up by trying to give me a dozen donuts for free, I opted to just remain calm and return 2 of my orders, this service wait was ridiculous not happy.

Donuts are 5 Stars. We went and waited over an hour for our breakfast. Food was hot and delicious. Server was nice.

Wheelchair accessibility: Tough tight doorway would be a challenge.

First time at Jacks. We went for a quick snack. Mango smoothie was delicious! Full of flavor and so fresh. Also ordered the açaí bowl! The fruits were tasty. We shared the bowl since it’s a pretty big size. Hope to go back to try their breakfast!
