Their food and catering is constantly delicious, we have been ordering and eating in here for close to 1.5 years. Their flavors are closest to Delhi. Love their Dal Bukhara, Pandara Road Butter Chicken, Paneer Dilruba and Kur Kuri Bhindi. Their kebabs are amazing too, specially malai and haryali.

I’ve had this so many times at other restaurants & since Jalwa is walking distance from me, decided to give their spinach saag a try. I asked that they hold the paneer. Wanted to like it so badly but it was so earthy and green, and the flavors were lacking…just tasted like blended spinach. Sadly I ended up throwing it out. The plain naan also wasn’t too great. May give it another shot but undecided. Cute ambiance and a parking lot down the block.

Jalwa, a modern take on traditional Indian cuisine, captivated my senses in the heart of Montclair. ✨ From the moment I stepped in, the ambiance seamlessly blended sophistication and relaxation – the perfect setting for a culinary adventure.Culinary Symphony: Our dining experience was nothing short of a gastronomic symphony. The menu paid homage to traditional Indian dishes while presenting them with a contemporary flair. The Lasuni Gobi, a dance of cauliflower florets in a soy burnt garlic sauce, was a tantalizing start, setting the stage for what was to come.Kabab Trio Extravaganza: The Kabab Trio, featuring Haryali Kabab, Malai Kabab, & Chicken Tikka, was a tasting masterpiece. Each kabab showcased distinct flavors, and the presentation was as delightful to the eyes as it was to the palate.Mango Tulsi Prawns & Achari Fish Tikka: The Mango Tulsi Prawns and Achari Fish Tikka were a seafood lover's dream. Tandoori grilled shrimps with fresh basil & mango puree, and cubes of salmon marinated in yogurt and spices – both dishes reflected the chef's commitment to perfection.Methi Paneer Malai Toast & Dal Bukhara: The Methi Paneer Malai Toast, a double layer of mint cottage cheese triangles in a creamy fenugreek & cardamom gravy, was a vegetarian delight. Accompanied by Dal Bukhara, a harmonious combination of black lentils cooked over a slow fire, our taste buds were transported to culinary bliss.Chili Garlic Naan & More: The Chili Garlic Naan, topped with fresh minced garlic & Indian green chili, was the perfect accompaniment to our meal. It's the kind of bread that elevates every dish it graces.Instagram Reel Worthy: The culinary artistry at Jalwa is not just a feast for the taste buds but also a visual delight. Every dish was Instagram reel-worthy, and the glimpses inside the kitchen added an exclusive touch to the experience.Service & Ambiance: The service was impeccable, with a knowledgeable staff guiding us through the menu. The relaxed yet sophisticated ambiance made Jalwa equally suitable for a special night out or casual gatherings with friends and family. In a nutshell, Jalwa is a testament to the evolution of Indian cuisine. It's where tradition meets innovation, and each dish tells a story of culinary passion. A dining experience at Jalwa is not just a meal; it's a journey through the rich tapestry of Indian flavors.

We have eaten at Jalwa twice in recent months, and most certainly will be doing so again whenever we find ourselves in or near Montclair. Though I've never been to India, I have been a fan of Indian cuisines since I first tried them in the 1970s, and have eaten at many excellent Indian restaurants. None has pleased me more than Jalwa. The food is both traditional and creative, lovingly and carefully prepared. Portions are substantial. Spicing is happily adjusted to taste, so those like me who want their hot and spicy dishes very spicy can get it, while those who prefer less heat can get that, too. Our vegetarian daughter loves the wide selection of beautifully prepared vegetarian dishes. Naan breads and roti are outstanding. We have not tried anything that we have not loved, but among the standouts for me are the samosas -- both the traditional and the "creative" ones we've tried -- as well as the delicious fried spinach appetizer, Palak Chaat; the Dal Jalwa (a delectable house specialty lentil dish); and the Achari Chicken Tikka, which I love. Service is attentive but not intrusive, and the owner is actively involved in making sure that everything goes well. My only regret is that Jalwa does not have a branch near where we live in MA, because we'd be regulars there if they did.

I had an issue when I originally ordered from grub. The restaurant contacted me quickly and was able to assist me with getting my order to me. I ordered through their website and got my food with no issue. Besides great costumer service, their food is delicious especially on a cold winter night.

The food at this restaurant is very good and authentic, BUT their prices are absolutely OUTRAGEOUS. I paid $23 for a saag paneer to go. No bread, no drink, no tip. Just one vegetarian dish. Not even any protein in this dish. I just find their prices deeply offensive and over my dead body will I ever give this establishment any of my business ever again!! Go to Jersey City for great Indian food at REASONABLE prices! #price gougers#
