My favorite place to get pad Thai in New Jersey. I ride all the way to Montclair 40 mins just for the pad Thai here. My bf also loves the massaman curry with the rotisserie chicken and i really enjoy the whole fish.

Jan 26, 2024 we dined in and orderedChicken dumplings- no goodChicken satay- good!Pineapple fried rice w/ shrimp- no goodPad Thai w/vegetables - no goodThe noodle dish was sweet (why) and tough, the rice was soggy(overcooked), and for some odd reason the shrimp tail was cut off from the shrimp but left in the rice… pointless and annoying to fish out shrimp tails in rice. If the chef cut the tails off already, why leave them in the dish? I love Thai, this particular place is way at the bottom of authentic Thai food. Service was good, although when she asked if we enjoyed the food, we were honest and she did nothing about it. No big deal. We didn’t continue eating the bad dishes & paid for everything. It happens, but will only happen once. Take my warning and go to a different restaurant for Thai.

Everything about Kai Yang was beyond 5 star. The food (Panang curry, Pineapple Chicken, Tom Kha soup, and vegetable spring rolls) was OUT OF THIS WORLD delicious. We especially loved the Pineapple chicken and Tom Kha soup. The staff was always refilling our water jug quickly before being asked and the food came out promptly. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable while it's a great feel for families, friends, or couples to enjoy! We will be returning and look forward to trying other meals here in the future. You cannot go to Montclair without visiting Kai Yang. Enjoy!

Best Thailand cuisine in the town! Great and very authentic flavors, reasonable prices and very easy going service. The only downside on it is dark interior circumstances and no kids menu, not friendly to family with kids, only personal experience. But we will come back again for food!

My appetizer was vegetable curry puffs, which were great. Afterwards, I ordered the duck dish with tamarind sauce and green curry. However, the duck was overcooked and one side was burnt. The sauces were fantastic but the duck was a turn off. It was like the cook didn’t care about the meat. Instead I got chicken pad Thai that was better cooked than the duck.

Spicy papaya salad was off the chain. Service was great. Spring rolls and puffs crispy and hot. Almost all dishes available as vegetarian, with or without

Awesome food, good prices, good portion sizes, good service. I got the pad kee mao and it was delicious, but the sweet sticky rice for $3 is a real hidden gem. Sweet, warm, and covered in delicious sweet sauce, it is exactly what I hoped that sweet sticky rice would be!

Kai Yang has been a cherished dining spot for my family since its opening. The roasted chicken combo is irresistibly delicious; we often opt for takeout, and it's a unanimous hit with no leftovers. The kids love it too!

Cute little spot. Service was a bit slow and chicken dumplings were mediocre. However, curries and rotisserie chicken were excellent. Spicy is very spicy! ?️

I am usually a takeout type, but Kai Yang is truly enjoyed best when dining in. Great date spot. Warm ambiance, great service, and the food is out of this world. Start it off w/ some tom yum soup. Give the specials a try (chef: please add the herb chicken curry puff as an everyday offering, I beg you!). All day chicken and some curry (massaman for me) are a must. Love this place!

Came here for dinner last weekend and we were able to get a table fairly quickly. The ambience was nice and didn't feel too loud, even though it was a busy Friday night. Service was excellent. I got the pad Thai with chicken and mild spice. Overall it was a good dish and definitely not something I would have made at home. However I didn't feel that there was a lot of flavor to the dish, which may have been my fault since I asked for a lower spice level. I've heard amazing things about this restaurant so maybe I just didn't order the right thing. I'm definitely open to coming back and trying some of their other options!

Came here again with some friends. We decided to share everything family-style and would definitely recommend! We started with their special appetizer (coconut shrimp), it was just alright. It only came with 4 pieces for $12, which was not worth it in my opinion. The entrees we ordered made up for it, though. We ordered the Chicken Rama, pad kee-mow with chicken, kra-pow stir fry with chicken, and massaman curry with.. you guessed it, chicken! Everything was great! We especially like the curry and the kee-mow. The kra-pow stir fry was just ok, glad we tried it but wouldn't order again. It was a little too salty. Service was excellent and our waiter was very patient. Will bring more friends here! It's a great option for Thai in the area.

Another great experience here! Stopped in when my family and I had the salmon smothered with the Tom ka sauce and some rice on the side. Yum yum yum all around. The slice of salmon is pretty large and portions are filling. The meal did not disappoint neither did the customer service. Montclair is a bit tough for parking esp on Bloomfield Ave but the surrounding streets have parking lots that are a short walk away. Give this spot a try!
