I rarely post reviews but I was moved to do so because of the great experience I recently had at Mattarello’s Bakery and Cafe. The young woman who assisted me with the purchase of a chocolate mousse cake was lovely, and she did a great job personalizing it. The elegantly decorated cake was one of the best desserts I have ever tasted—light, airy, and intensely chocolatey. A special cake for sure.

The apricot croissant is my favorite pastry in town, with the chocolate croissant not far behind.They have a wide variety of cakes, pastries, pies and coffees. It is my go to for the holidays.The smell of fresh baked goods when I walk into this Italian bakery is one of the most pleasant sensations in my memory bank.

Imagine it’s your 30th birthday and your birthday cake is ruined by this bakery. They said they were able to recreate a cake similar to my reference pictures. When I saw the cake that I received I wanted to cry so badly. Never in my 30 years of life have I ever seen a cake so horrible! As for the taste taste I ordered strawberry shortcake and it taste like it was months old it was disgusting and gross. I had to dump the entire cake in the trash immediately. Ruined my birthday and I’m so disappointed by this bakery. This bakery is trash!!!! Do not order custom cakes from them unless you want to be disappointed. I wish I could give zero star!

Mattarello is my go-to place for coffee and all things pastry! They have the best espresso in town, and I would above all others recommend the Sfogliatella and the apricot Croissant! Steps from the train station, it is a great place to stop before or after the commute.

Not only is the coffee great, but the workers there are super friendly, and are very helpful. I come to this coffee shop a few times and I’ve never seen any of them without a smile on their face! They even let me do a photoshoot in there. Amazing place! Wish I could rate it higher.

I was craving a chocolate covered croissant and there aren't a ton of places that do that in my area. I found this place that had ok reviews so I thought I'd give it a try. I ended up getting everything but a croissant (which they had). I do want to point out, I ordered delivery at 4pm so of course it's not going to be the freshest. I tried the lobster tail, carrot cake and a custard donut. The lobster tail was really good, it was stuffed with a cream that was unexpected but delicious. It wasn't too sweet which is nice and had the perfect crunch. It didn't taste super fresh because it's not, at 4pm, but still hit the spot. The carrot cake was probably one of the best I've tried in NJ. It wasn't too sweet, it was very moist, and I regretted only getting the small size. The custard donut was very good, the custard had a lemony taste. The dough was soft and fluffy. I will definitely be buying more from here (especially a large carrot cake!)
