Love love love this restaurant. The food is amazing and it's so fun. Always get the vegetarian sampler and it never disappoints. Their vegan chocolates are also delicious. Highly recommend for anyone who wants a delicious high quality meal. Vegan & meat eater friendly.

Absolutely delicious! The owners and staff are so sweet. You can tell how much love is put into what they do. I’ve come here 4 times in less than 3 weeks. I love it here.

The food was incredible. The service was on point. The waiter took the time to explain everything to us. Loved it. Next time we will go with spicy not medium. Be prepared to use your fingers to eat.

One of my absolute favorite restaurants in Montclair...and with so many to choose from, that's saying a lot. Food is delicious, atmosphere is great, staff is friendly and helpful. Love Mesob!!

We came here for my birthday last month and the experience was outstanding! We ordered the "Taste of Mesob for 2" which lets you try a huge amount of the menu, and it was all delicious. I really love Ethiopian food, and this restaurant ranked among the best I've had. The service was great, and I could definitely see myself going back!

Very authentic, beautifully decelerated and waiters were kind and detailed with food introductions. Very noisy inside so excellent if you have children and worried you will disturb others. Not good if you want to have intimate conversations.

Our experience started positive, but it change quickly. I approached the owner’s brother (our waiter) to order an additional item, he proceeded to tell me that we didn’t order enough food and that it wasn’t fair to the restaurant. Additionally, he stated that It was a busy night, but there were a few empty tables. Our bill for a party of 7 at a BYOB was $171. Customer service and appreciation is poor.

I love Ethiopian food and this place did not disappoint. The flavors were so, so good and the satisfaction from the amazing food was rivalled only by the warm customer service. I felt like a valued guest the second I walked through the door.

This place serves the best veggie sampler(platter). I have eaten at a lot of Ethiopian restaurants across the country but most certainly this was the best Ethiopian place I've ever eaten in. Highly recommend this place!

My friends and I have frequented Mesob several times over the past two years as they have a very friendly menu to accommodate our groups dietary restrictions (vegan, gluten-free, etc). We ate here on a Wednesday evening for the first time post-Covid and the food did not disappoint. I ordered the meat sampler and highly recommend if you're not quite sure what to order and want to sample a variety of options. For a drink I ordered the hibiscus iced tea which was refreshing but not necessarily something I would order again. The waitstaff is very knowledgeable although can be a bit slow if the restaurant is busy. Overall recommend and would return for high quality Ethiopian food. FYI the restaurant is BYOB and there is conveniently a liquor store next door.

Mesob has been on my radar for a while and I finally tried it tonight. I could kick myself for waiting so long. This food is delicious! Imo, you must order the Taste of Mesob. This gives you a perfect sample of the whole menu. You get 2 apps, 2 beef, 1 lamb, 2 chicken, 1 seafood, and 4 vegetables. Plus injera. I have a large appetite, and this was more than enough food. Highlights were: ye'misir sambussa- a super crisp and flaky stuffed pastry with lentils and spices. ye'beg alicha- tender lamb stewed in a flavorful sauce doro tibs- moist chunks of chicken breast in a tomato based sauce with spices kitfo - this was the absolute star of the show!! Prime beef tartar seasoned with ghee and served with farmers cheese and Ethiopian spices. They will ask you if you want the beef cooked. Do NOT do this! Have it raw the way it is meant to be eaten. Do not forget to add the spices. It was like a small bowl of unicorn dust. Complete flavor bomb! We wanted to try the special baklava for dessert, but they were sold out. Instead we had the flourless chocolate and espresso torte. It was very rich and delicious. We were not disappointed. We look forward to returning to this fantastic restaurant.

We ordered a vegetarian sampler for 3 (entree portion) for takeout today. In addition, we paid $3.50 a piece for teff injera (8 pieces). For $100.00 plus a 20% tip, we got six 2/3 full six ounce containers of various vegetables. I love Ethiopian food and we live almost an hour from any restaurants that serve it. Normally we go into Harlem to Benyam or a couple of others we have found and loved in NY. Next time we will try Walia in South Orange. I totally understand that in restaurant portions "look" different but this is #1 NOT a three person meal and #2 Not $100 worth of food. Shame on you Mesob

The food was great. We tried the mesob sampler, mild and hibiscus tea. Good service and very affordable. Only problem is that there's no private parking.

Best people. Best food. Best service. The greatest restaurant in New Jersey hands down. Vegetable platter is the tastiest food money can buy.
