The first time I ever came here with my mom we had an overall great experience! The inside of the resturant is so warm decorated with fireplaces. The food and presentation was amazing and the staff was always so nice. I dont know what happened last night but for me and my boyfriends anniversary I decided to take him here and i was extrememly upset with the poor experience right from the start. They sit us down and we get menus but no drink menus?After waiting a while (no one came to the table yet at all) i had to ask a random waitor for a drink menu. Then after waiting even more time our waitor finally comes over doesnt even greet us, himself or anything just comes to the table, standing there with his pen and paper looking at us... We put in our drinks but I was so upset I had to get up and leave. To pay all that money for an experience like that was not the kind of date night I wanted to have.

The service and ambience were good. But the food was just not worth the cost. Me and my wife got the kebab for two, which cost 78 dollars. When I spend that much money on food, I expect a high-quality meal, and this was not the case for us. The steak was quite dry and hard, and lacked flavor. The chicken and sausage were okay. The rice was very simple, bland, and not enough for a 78 dollar plate for two. Really not worth the money. We went there to celebrate our two year anniversary, and we left pretty disappointed. I have been to much cheaper or similarly priced places that served much better food. I expected much better from the reviews I read.

Large bustling bar - restaurant - Lounge ETC place has so many personalities I don't know where to begin. 1st off parking available in garage down the street NOT IN THE LOT across the street where it is $5.00.. Garage complimentary. Bustling Ferry street does not have any available parking so take it where you can. On the left is the old "bar" with seating off to the side when you come in ... on the Right is an UPSCALE lounge with modern seating with multiple dining rooms inside that makes the place enormous. No Reservation but we are early on a Saturday night (THEY GET PACKED LATER).... seated and moved thorough dinner rather quickly. Pitcher of Red Sangria was very good and all servers - waiters continue to stop by making sure our glasses are filled. Bread was pedestrian. We started with Shrimp in Garlic sauce which was huge portion $18.95... Very good though some of the shrimp could have had been cleaned better but the sauce was fantastic. A Pasta of various Vegetables was absolutely ENORMOUS for our Vegan diner tonight, yet they have Vegan entrees. Tasty but nothing great. Last but not least was a massive platter of Chicken Francese with side of Spanish Potatoes & rice. Chicken was delicious while sauce could have used a bit more KICK maybe some lemon. Rice & Potatoes were OK but cool as every dish is served with them so they are mass prepared and not piping hot. Service was excellent right up until we could not find the waiter for the check as we skipped desert. Decent solid place with good ambiance ... Food on par with other places in the area but nothing EXCEPTIONAL. With so many other options this would not be top of my list, but still good.

The best birthday dinner I’ve had thus far!! Marco (manager) & his staff were the best. Beautiful set up, super accommodating, impeccable service, food & drinks were amazing! Thank you so much we had a great time!


Nice environment. However, wait time was extremely long though the place wasn’t full. Waiters paid attention to colored (light skinned) people and ignored us most of the time. This always happens to me anytime I go there. The bread (rolls) too was very hard and cold. It tasted and felt like a three-day old bread (roll). Other than that, everything was nice.


Best food and service in Newark, hands down! My girlfriend and I are regulars, and we love great food!

Started off with a cold bread basket that had bitten pieces of bread in the basket. We didn't dare touch the bread. We had the Polvo a Feira (broiled Octopus) and wow super delicious and what a generous portion, great for 3 people. Next we ordered the hanger steak that came with rice, homemade chips and boiled veggies. A very generous sized steak, but covered in too much sauce, very salty. The waitstaff on the bar are hard to get a hold of, and we literally had to ask for drinks, each round of drinks, and water. I felt like we had to beg to get drinks and put any orders in. Adega, you can do better!


Another fantastic meal before the Red Bull’s game. Service and food were over the top. Highly recommended for game day or any day.

This is my absolute favorite restaurant. The food is always fantastic and no matter what I order I am always delighted with my meal! The best Sangria you will ever have. Servers are also great and always efficient, happy and polite. Marco is the best Manager of any restaurant. Can’t wait to return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to eat in Newark, New Jersey

One of the premier, older Portuguese ( Spanish) places in the infamous Ironbound section of Newark where you can always get a very good meal and excellent service. Very good liquor & wine selection too. Street parking and some lot available if you know where to look. There is the Adega Lounge which is a long narrow bar with very special bartenders, great atmosphere, and a full menu to eat at the bar. Connected and right next to it is the dining room where you can eat like a king. Excellent Sangria too. A group of us went out for drinks and ordered many appetizers ( tapas) such as : Camarao a Guilho: Shrimp sauteed with garlic and olive oil Chistorra a Adega: Spanish sausage, shrimp and mushrooms in brown sauce Conquilhas San Jacques: Scallops and shrimp sauteed with white wine (vinho verde) topped with melted mozzarella We ordered 2 of these entress and all was a perfect meal NY Bife Sirloin na Tabua com Grelos e Batata Assada: NY sirloin, short ribs, pork loin, chicken beast, sausage and bacon, all charcoal grilled, served with rice and beans It has a very large menu with something for everyone: beef, lamp, chicken. and fish. Not to mention paella! (and did I mention service was top class?) Highly recommended

Delicious food. Great ambiance. The garlic shrimp appetizer was excellent and the sauce was excellent with the bread. The Branzino filet and the Salmon steak were perfectly seasoned and cooked. I will go back.

Treated my Dad for a birthday dinner. Everyone was very courteous and made us feel quite welcome. The food was delicious, worth the 1 hr drive to Newark and the price of the meal. Dessert was just as enjoyable. Not our first time there, but every time is a great experience!
