I would recommend this place... food fresh, not dry... two things I would like the cook take into consideration, add more meat to the beef patties and serve chicken thighs and legs

The food was very good, nice flavor, good portions on the oxtail, and gravy on the rice. The only issue I had, there was no Plantain, served with the meal.

Parking: Parking is tight and limited.

I had inquired about a restaurant the have oxtail from a friend; haven't dined here, After reading reviews, I don't think I will..owners should read the reviews. I never read good reviews, I read the lesser reviews; slimy food, sour rice, portion size. I live about 20 min from you; I'd rather drive to Newark to Just Fish on Washington st.

I left a great review before but when things changes, it’s only fair that I do the same. I used to love going there until recently. I’ve order more than 3x and my order get cancelled as I drive down or I go to the restaurant for pick up and no one is there. This was the only Caribbean food around so I was really excited to use them but disappointed with the service provided now. Also pricing is different in person so I hope they change that.I wouldn’t discourage anyone for going there since there is place for improvement but beware of these practices. Not good for any business.

The food was delicious ?. I went to queen of the tropics on Friday night. I ordered the fried pork, oxtail and fried goat. The food was fresh the rice was on point. I drove over 45 minutes to get to the restaurant and it was well worth it. I will definitely be back to try the rest of the selections.

I was a little nervous going to this restaurant, based on the reviews. This is one of the times reviewers are wrong. I ordered three large meals; two j*** chicken and one curry chicken. The meals were a little pricey, but what isn't these days.We received a tin of j*** chicken and another tin of rice, veggies and plaintains. The chicken was succulent and spicy. My Mom ate the curry chicken. We were all very happy with our meals. Not sure why there are so many bad reviews. This restaurant is good and it's quite a change from the one thousand pizza parlors. Ethnic food doesn't last in Phillipsburg, but I'm going to support them as much as I can. Join me and suupport food diversity.

When we arrived the Open Sign was displayed, upon entering the restaurant the lights were off, when we called out saying "we thought you guys were open", a woman came out from the back. Then we mentioned that the lights were off, she then came out of the side door and turned on the lights. The person (same one) upon taking our order, did not understand what we were saying, when we were trying to enquire if vegetables came with the meal. We ordered Stewed Chicken with Rice and Beans. She understood that, but we could not communicate with her that we needed vegetables, as she did not understand what we were trying to say, and we did not know her language. Upon arriving home, only to discover that the stewed chicken meal consisted of Rice with Red beans and just two (2) small pieces of chicken back. The rice seemed to be still requiring a little more cooking time. We were so very disappointed, after all we wanted to support the local restaurant, and being a person originally with Caribbean heritage myself, I wanted to support this local Haitian/Jamaican restaurant. So very sorry that we had to place this review, but we would like you to up your game, we would also like to be given the amount of food for the value given. We decided not to eat the food, cooled it off and placed it in the fridge. Will let you know in another review if it qualified in taste test.

Ordered the beef patty, and it was very doughy and did not have much meat inside. Still pretty tasteful. Was not expecting to wait 40 minutes for it, but it is what it is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I wanted so much to be impressed with The Queen, but I had a disappointing experience. I arrived about an hour after opening, I walked in, the lights were off, I thought they were closed. I walked up to the counter and asked if they were open and two people came out from the cooking area. They were very friendly so I had hopes.I ordered the Goat Curry but they informed me that the only item on the menu that was available was the Ox Tail. OK, I'm game, never had it before. They said they didn't have the rice ready for the it and would take about 15 minutes. Then she offered fried plantains which would only take 5 minutes. I agreed on the plantains. 15 minutes later my order is ready, packed to go when my order was to eat at the restaurant. They provided a plate and utensils and I opened the Ox Tail entre and it was delicious, cold and small for the price charged. My fried plantains were at a proper temperature. Maybe they have a better experience at dinner time, I wouldn't recommend a lunchtime visit.
