I have had lunch at Ani Ramen in downtown Summit at least 18+ times since they first opened this branch restaurant on Springfield Ave. Unfortunately, over the past several years the quality of both the food and service have really deteriorated. The ramen noodles used to be very good, but during my last few visits it has been served at lukewarm temperature, where I felt the need to bring that disturbing fact to the attention of my server, asking him if they could please heat it up for me. Thankfully, they said they would prepare a new bowl from scratch. This should have been embarrassing, but it was not an isolated incident. Also, the service is inconsistent and slow, considering that the restaurant is hardly ever even half full when I am there. Once seated, I have to make a concerted effort to get the attention of any waiter/waitress, who all seem to be more interested and preoccupied with scrolling on their cell phones. Finally, every table that I have sat at had its wooden table top’s finish incredibly tacky/sticky, to the point that the paper napkins really stick to the table and they tear as you attempt to peek they free. One’s forearms skin also sticks to the table tops, which is incredibly gross and probably unsanitary! All of these issues can be easily addressed and fixed if the Owner’s/Management really care to do so. Thankfully, this is not the only ramen noodle restaurant in this area. Time will tell if things improve, which I hope they do.
UPDATE (August 2024) - At my most recent lunch at Ani Ramen in downtown Summit, I was very pleased to find that my table, as well as both tables on either side of me had clean, non-sticky table tops. The service was polite and attentive and the ramen was piping hot. Thank you management for actually responding and addressing my previously stated observations and concerns, hence my review change for three to five stars.

I usually only post reviews when I want to give positive feedback, but my disappointment in the customer service at Ani Ramen Summit has pushed me to take the time to complain.

Between a couple of emails I sent about problems with my past orders that went unanswered, unreturned phone calls to the most recent orders I placed that were missing items (yet not missing the charge), I’m never spending my money at this establishment ever again. After the last orders with missing items (the same item twice in a row, so it leaves me wondering if this was done knowingly), I was given coupons for two free bao buns. I claimed one order of complimentary bao buns and the general manager allowed me to take them to go. When I went to use my 2nd coupon for complimentary bao buns, I was told by the evening shift manager tonight that I had to dine-in alone to order the bao buns. Despite telling her about the past precedence and the recent errors in my orders, she didn’t allow it. Check your records. I used to spend a lot of money there. No more.

The shoyu ramen was good but a little disappointing. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here but it's great to fulfill a ramen craving. Excellent service

A tale of inconsistency and lack of accountability. A week or so back my family and I ordered from Ani Ramen House in Summit NJ. On this occasion we were delighted to receive excellent food. So it was not even a question that we would order again soon.

However, this evening we ordered from Ani Ramen in Summit NJ and we had quite a disappointing experience. For starters my wife and daughter ordered a vegan ramen bowl and it came without broth. Both my wife and I called the restaurant and were unable to speak with a person, we could only leave a message. I understand mistakes happen, I just wish there was a person available to either provide us with the broth, or refund our purchase. This meal was made somewhat edible by microwaving some vegetable stock we had at home.

Next, my meal of shrimp panko rice was lukewarm. The shrimp seemed like pre breaded shrimp from the freezer section at a supermarket, and they only give you four tiny shrimp. The vegetables were supposed to be pickled somewhere, some were not. Just rather disappointing.

Honestly one of my favorite restaurants but I received the wrong order when I got door dash, which is clearly the restaurants fault. It was the right bag with my name but the wrong food, and when i called to resolve the issue i was told they would call back but never was.

Awesome for shoyu ramen and miso sake wings. Only with they had a fried rice option to go with the wings for a combo

Food was packaged really well and looked great, the taste unfortunately was disappointing. I had the vegan ramen and it just tasted like really salty water, the noodles and veg tasted really good individually but the soup ruined it. And like most places they did not season the tofu even on the bao buns, it was the most bland fried tofu. You need to season or marinate tofu like you would with meat.

Absolutely had the worst experience at ani Ramen. Easily the worst restaurant to eat at in Summit. I went in to get the chef special Ramen bowl and made sure to tell The girl at the front to substitute the pork for chicken since I’m a Muslim and cannot consume it. I waited 30 minutes outside to get my bowl to my surprise. When I got home, there was pork inside of it waste of money, waste of time and waste of location, terrible experience

Overall the ambience and food was good. Looks like it was understaffed and couldn’t get the table even though couple of tables were empty. The ramen was not so good compared to other items that we have tried.
