The Battery Cafe has been my absolute favorite place to go for coffee and a spot to work while in St. John’s. The music and ambiance were always on point, and the staff is wonderful, just incredibly welcoming, nice, and helpful. I simply can’t say enough good things about it!

I had the lox on a bagel and it was very good. My wife had a toasted bagel with butter and it was ok, as well as her coffee.

Very rewarding place to have a yummy lunch after hiking Signal Hill! Lots of delicious options- I recommend the soup of the day with your choice of sandwich and the rhubarb lemonade.

Tomato cheddar soup from scratch and homemade bread for the grilled cheese... Sooo good. A very well behaved furry friend was on the patio ... Made my day.

Iced coffee and lemon Square after a hike at Signal Hill. Sign me up, again and again! The weather was beautiful out and we were able to enjoy people watching as well as enjoyed our refreshing drink and snack. Great laid back cafe.

We initially stopped by on a Sunday, following a hike of Signal Hill. Unfortunately, we were 10 minutes too late. A very kind gentleman was cleaning up outside and informed us it was closed but told us to come back the next morning and he would give us a treat. He also offered us water. We were leaving the area to explore the Burin Peninsula, the next morning so didn’t have the opportunity to drop back, but the following Sunday, we found ourselves in St. John’s again and made sure to go for lunch. So glad we did!I had the Chimmy Chicken sandwich with Carrot Ginger soup, and an iced latte. It was one of my favourite lunches on our trip to Newfoundland. We loved the atmosphere, friendly staff, and our meal. Very casual place with an outside walk up window and some outside seating and small dining area. The inside dining area you place your order at the counter and they deliver to your table.I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area. Parking looks to be a little tricky but we were staying within walking distance so didn’t have to worry about it. It would absolutely be a great way to end a hike of Signal Hill, just pay attention to their hours prior.

We visited last week while in St. John’s, although we spend a bit of time in St. John’s this was our first time visiting The Battery Cafe. The cafe has a great atmosphere and relaxing. Our breakfast sandwiches tasted great, but I did think they were a bit expensive for what you’re getting. The drinks were delicious as well, I had a vanilla latte and my husband had a cappuccino. I’d recommend both!

Staying in St. John's just up the street from the Battery Cafe, headed there for breakfast yesterday. Lovely porridge with fruit and a great latte. Went back this morn to buy some beans, and the person helping me was so friendly and helpful. Got another latte, this time to go. Took my first sip and exclaimed to myself "OMG!" It is amazingly great. Now i have the conundrum of deciding how much coffee i can drink: I want to try the beans I bought, and I must go back for the latte. This is what I call a good problem. Thank you!Vegetarian options: Nice selection

Delicious food, homey atmosphere and amazing service. It was my first time having coleslaw in a ham & Swiss sandwhich but i was very blown away with the combination. Definitely coming back next time that I visit Newfoundland.
Cosy laid-back little coffee, a bit outside the downtown. Warm mood, friendly people, good live music, good coffee... Perfect to grab a cup before joining the North Head trail which is not far away. I'd love to live in St John's and make this my regular café!

Quaint little cafe at the base of Signal Hill. I just had a Peach Fizz tea which was nice. You can order from outside and sit on their little terrasse.

Uber cool little cafe, next to Battery Road. We were biking and stopped only for an expresso and the date bars which are addictive. Never had their food or sat inside but feel confident it is worth the visit. The expresso was excellent. Folks were nice.

After a hike on Signal Hill, we stopped here for a quick bite to eat on way to the airport. Was recommended by a friend who knows I love good coffee. The Battery Café did not disappoint. Big mugs filled with their house brand or as I call it liquid gold. Smooth rich coffee. I had a bagel with butter and he had the breakfast sandwich – both very good. There was also a large dessert selection and chocolates and sweet treats to choose from. We can’t forget the variety of coffees available for sale either. All very reasonably priced. There’s also a patio outside with a walk up window. A quaint corner café and a bustling place with constant customers coming in for their fix. Like everywhere we went in NL, friendly and welcoming service.
