Woodroad Restaurant: A Cape Breton Dining Experience

After spending four days in Cape Breton Highlands National Park indulging in fish and chips, lobster rolls, and sandwiches, this restaurant truly surprised me with its sophisticated culinary experience. It completely changed my perception of the local food scene. The dishes here blend extraordinary culinary skills with fresh, local seafood, creating one of the best dining experiences of my trip. Highly recommended!

For an out of town traveler like myself (who was staying at the Ridge on the Chimney. Excellent) The Woodroad restaurant was an exquisite fine dining escape from our usual roadtrip eateries. Peter, half of the brother partnership is responsible for the building. Yes building the building and service along with a great team, while his brother is responsible for the mouth watering assault on your tastebuds. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED….

Arrive before sunset for a pre dinner cocktail which you can take outside to breath in the view.

Then sit down, relax and be spoilt.

I've been looking forward to going to the Woodroad for years. The food was amazing; cooked to perfection with an elegant presentation. Along with a beautiful sunset view, the ambiance was just right. Perfect place for a romantic evening, 10/10. We will be back. Thank you so much for having us and creating a beautiful experience on Cape Breton Island.

We had dinner at WoodRoad last evening and it was absolutely spectacular! The food was amazing, the ambiance is so wonderful, the view was just outstanding. What a perfect night.

What an experience!! The food was delicious beyond expectations, the timing of the courses was perfect. So cool to see it prepped and plated. The setting and view was magnificent, a real treat. But the best part was the service! So, so friendly and personable, yet subtle. Highly recommend!

We have been waiting to be able to leave our youngest overnight to do this and made a night of it away. It was absolute perfection. I could eat for the Olympics and have travelled all over the world chasing Michelin experiences and Woodroad was absolutely on par with anything I have experienced anywhere. The food was fresh and inspired and the sauces and subtle touches were sophisticated and clearly the result of extensive experience and expertise. We were astounded. We will be back for sure. The staff was incredibly professional and even gave us a swimming hole recommendation to take the kids to. It was like watching a finely tuned ballet.

Superb from the time I walked in to the time that I walked out. My only strong dislike is that I can't live in this beautiful house.

Wow! Wow! Wow! This was definitely one of the top dining experiences we have had. The food quality was top notch, the presentation was stunning, and the service flawless. Friendly people, fantastic building and location. I cannot find one thing about the evening that was not five star quality! I can’t wait to visit again in 2024! Thank you Woodroad!

I have been to a lot of fine dining restaurants in my life but nothing compares to the dining experience my wife and I had last night from as we drove down the driveway to being greeted at the door Darrel and his staff were the most amazing people you could ever have in the restaurant world over the course of the next three hours I was totally amazed by the service and the food l can go on and on but you will have to go there yourself to witness dining at it’s best thank you again for the amazing experience we had
