My wife and I have loved the Basil for years, for it’s delicious food, great service, and relaxing ambiance. I personally love the Basil because the food is always fresh, nutritious and great tasting. Recently we chose them to provide catering for a 35-person birthday celebration at our home. We were extremely impressed by the time and attention that Chai gave to the planning of our event. The result was a beautiful set-up of amazing food and appetizers. Our guests totally loved it! Whether it’s for a simple lunch, a romantic or family dinner, or all-out catering, we can’t recommend The Basil enough!

i’ve always loved Thai food. I’m glad I found this restaurant. My wife and I come here at least once a week since we’ve moved to Carson City
I went there with my parents to celebrate an early Mother's Day and we were all so impressed. The food was absolutely delicious. We shared Honey ducking, panaang curry, and a Green bean dish ,forgot the name of it but everything was fresh and tasty. The staff made us feel very welcome. My parents loved it just as much as I did. We’ll be back! Thank you guys!
I rarely write long reviews, but this Thai Basil restaurant absolutely deserves it. My husband and I were there 2 days ago. From the moment I walked through the door, I felt like I had been transported to a very fine restaurant in Thailand which I been there years ago. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with beautiful traditional Thai decorations, soft lighting, and gentle background music that set the perfect mood for an unforgettable dining experience.
The service was amazing. The staff were knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the food they served, They took time to explain the dishes, offer recommendations based on our tastes, and made sure we were comfortable throughout the meal. Our server, She came to check on us several times which is why I loved it here.
Now, let’s talk about the food. We started with the Tom Yum Soup, which was bursting with flavor
a perfect balance of sour, spicy, and aromatic herbs. You can do your choice of 1-5 levels of spicy.
Next, I ordered Pad Thai noodle, which was nothing short of amazing. The noodles were perfectly cooked, not too dry or oily, with just the right amount of tamarind tang and sweetness. The girl recommends to bring me crushed peanuts and lime on the side gave it that extra punch that made each bite exciting.
We also ordered Mango Sticky Rice for dessert. mango sticky rice, it was the perfect ending to our meal sweet, fragrant, and comforting. The mango was perfectly ripe, and the warm coconut cream over the sticky rice made it a dream.
For the first time, this place is downtown Carson City must-visit . It’s not just a meal
it’s an experience.
I’ll definitely be coming back, probably very soon!
Highly recommended — 10/10.
A Carson City staple for a quick, tasty lunch
From the photos of the food I didn't hesitate to book a special birthday dinner for my large family party. I called and was assured they could accommodate our large group. We arrived to a warm and welcoming staff and our 16 person table ready. Unfortunately, not everyone in our party was able to join at the set time. Having hungry kids in tow we requested to start ordering and add the late comers when they arrived. Our server kindly and promptly adjusted to our needs. It was really a server's nightmare as different, orders were placed at different times and out of seating sequence. The food was wonderful everyone throughly enjoyed their meals. Not only that the staff crowned the birthday boy with a beautiful Thai crown and led a chorus of Happy Birthday. It was a wonderful time all around. I will gladly return knowing it will be another delicious meal. I highly recommend The Basil Thai Restaurant. Thank you so much!
Best Thai food around
Wow!!! This was an AMAZING restaurant discovery, I highly recommend it! The food is delicious, we couldn’t decide which dish was the best, so good that we even forgot about taking pictures. The service was nice and friendly, checked on us multiple times and refilled. The location is intimate and very cute. Best meal we had in the USA after 8 months here!!
6 for dinner. We really enjoyed the food. Pad Thai, Sample platter, papaya salad, duck curry, chicken fried rice, fried calamari, egg rolls, and more. Service was friendly, prompt, and professional.
Great lunch spot

If it's true that there's been a change in ownership, that would explain the once great restaurant, turned into a crap place to take all your money. The service is just crude, not the Thai gracious service it once was and the food is not good either, for the prices they're charging! Get, this, they charge extra for rice when you order a curry! Who the heck eats curry without rice, you gonna drink it like soup? That's like ordering beef with noodles and then saying the noodles are EXTRA! What the heck? Then burned snow peas in a noodle dish , really? Any nice pics of food here were from before the change of ownership .... heck I even posted nice food pics when it WAS a nice place!
Nice plating from the kitchen is all but gone, just get it out as fast as you can is how it is now. Too bad Nan and Bob are no longer running the place, they definitely would not let this crew get away with this poor excuse of a restaurant. Don't bother coming here. No real good Thai in Carson, have to go to Reno!
My meal was delicious, my husbands meal was okay. A little pricy. One of the best spring rolls I’ve ever tasted. I’ll go back and try more dishes.
Absolutely recommend this place to enjoy an excellent meal. My first time eating here and will surely be back to try different dishes. Prices are extremely reasonable compared to other establishments, cheaper than ordering a sandwich or burger from other restaurants. Definitely worth the visit!.
Like the Hawaianfried rice, drunken noodles, Bangkok fried rice
Excellent Thai food that is on par and perhaps better than what you find in Marin.
Every dish was enjoyable.
Service was a but slow, and soup service was odd. Didn't serve the soup into your bowl as is typical and the serving spoon was not a ladle. Just a regular tiny soup spoon.
