We loved this spot in Carson City! The menu provided tons of vegan options, as you could choice tofu as your protein for lots of the dishes. The staff seemed very knowledgeable about what to do to make the dishes vegan, and vegan options were clearly marked. Not to mention food was delish!

I’ve been dining at the Basil pretty regularly since 2006 and it’s been my absolute favorite restaurant in the area. Recently, though, there is a new chef and I and my guests have been disappointed. Flavorful has gone to flavorless. Sauces are different, and meat isn’t trimmed as well. I’ve tried multiple times in the last 3-4 months and I hate to say it but it’s time to stop.

We ordered yellow curry and sticky rice. It was tasty and had nice flavors.

Really enjoyed our meal here. Staff were friendly and accomodating and it was so good to have an actual vegan Thai curry. We got the Penang Curry and it was delicious

The food was excellent. It was a nice quiet little place. I need something other than traditional "American" food, and this hit the spot.

Walking into this restaurant, my 1st impression was "wow, it's beautiful in here." Service and food sucked. We were seated quickly. Our food came out on a large plate with a small portion of food. I ordered a chicken and shrimp Pad Thai. ($14.95) Only had two shrimps in it. The food wasn't good. Would of rather drive into Reno for Bangkok cuisine. Service was fine until the older lady waiter commented on my daughter's skin color. She also asked where the tip was when we wrote on the ticket table. We haven't even left the table. Our family will not be dining here again.

Food was bland. I had to ask for chili to add some flavor. The spring roll was very oily and the lunch menu is small. Service was good though.Vegetarian options: Tofu substitution for meat

this "famous" restaurant is a shell of it's former self with the change of ownership. No longer do I see the pride in the food and service that was when it was run by Nan and Bob. Plating is just tossed and served and the food selection is not there either. No more Musamun Curry either. Lunch will cost you about $20 now with tax and tip.I only came back here to see if the new owners were able to keep the level of food and service the same. I had the Duck Gravy lunch special. It just didn't have the same wow flavor it once did. The pad Thai was just OK as well.

The only thing that tops the great food here is the outstanding service. Every person who helped us, including the owner, was professional and kind. We went at a busy time and it didn't take long for us to get our meal. (We ate too fast to take pictures of our food but even the presentation was nice).

Good Thai food near Lake Tahoe , we went on Christmas Eve so it was crowded and have to wait for around 15 mins to be seated. All good that we ordered was good except tomyiam soup.. the best food was mango sticky rice .. yellow curry with shrimp was also nice

Walked in to place a To go order at 8:20pm, came all the way down from Reno NV to try it. I was greeted by a young lady who said that she didn't want to push tables together so we could wait for it (which we didn't mind not sitting), I let her know we just wanted some pad thai to go, she let me know that they close soon, I said that's okay we are taking it to go, she then said they had a lot of people so it would be at least 30 minutes for our food, I was willing to wait, I said, "We came from Reno to try your Pad Thai, would you prefer we leave?" She nodded and once again said they close soon, I said, "Sorry I wasted a drive down here," she couldn't have cared less. BYE, never trying this place, I just cannot believe you'd rather get rid of a new customer that may return and spread the word because you don't want to "bother" a to go order, so many restaurants do this now, if you're closing at 8:30pm and you want to be done serving anyone by 8:20pm, lock your doors and don't let anyone in, it's just sad, when I worked in food service we were open until 10pm, if you walked in at 9:50pm we'd NEVER make you feel bad for doing so, we treated you like everyone else, just sad that customer service has shot downhill everywhere now. Your loss! Probably not great food anyway.

We travel to Carson City a few times a year and have stopped here previously and it was pretty good. The expensive duck curry came for our friend after my husband and I were finished. The duck was hard just tough couldn’t eat. When asked for spicy on three dishes non came even mild. My husband eats everything and he wouldn’t finish his drunken noodles as they were mush. MaybeNew owners. Service bad too. My food was warm by the time I could get some soy sauce. It was clean. One star
