Bummed is an understatement because this business closed. :( it was absolutely fantastic and I crave their sweet soy dipping sauce.

So, I've never left a review like this before but I've been here 4 times in the past 6 months and it is literally always closed when it says it's open on both Google and Yelp. No notice is online. I've come on different days of the week and times ranging from noon to five. I gave them four chances and I'll update this review if they're open. Driving across town to a closed restaurant is no fun.

I love Bab. I usually get the teriyaki chicken bowl.

Finally!!! An actually good KFC (Korean fried chicken) place. I really loved their soy, and sweet and spicy flavored wings. I ordered 1 pound of with those two flavors. The wings were huge and I loved those sauces. It would of been good if the chicken was tossed and covered in the sauces already BUT it really isn't a problem at all. There was another flavor garlic butter but I saved that flavor for next time I can't stress how happy I was to try their Korean fried chicken and it actually being flavorful, crunchy and big! Must try! Unfortunately, I ate the chicken before I could snap a picture. Next time! I'll update with pictures!

I wish this location was more convenient to my sparks residence, because I would be here ALL THE TIME. I asked what the staff recommended and of course they said the KFC. I got a mix of the garlic butter and spicy kfc and both were absolutely delicious. The garlic butter one was a little sweeter than anticipated but both had a unique flavor and the chicken was juicy on the inside and crunchy and saucy on the outside. I got a side of white rice high was perfectly cooked and a great compliment to the sauces. And a side of kimchi coleslaw which was fresh and tangy and super crisp. Overall I really enjoyed my meal and I'd definitely make another trip in if I found myself at the Summit.

I went here today and it was a HUGE disappointment!! Items on two out of their 4 menu boards were not available for ordering. Only the basic fried chickens, side dishes, and bento box are available for ordering. No soups whatsoever. For the bento box, the side dishes cannot be substituted for another side dish, and only two pieces of chicken are in each bento box. That's a joke! I ended up leaving without ordering anything...such a waste of my time! The original Bab Cafe with Korean rice bowls were much much better! Don't think I'd ever go back...what's the point?!

Nooooo!!!! My favorite place for a Korean rice bowl has changed to... fried chicken?? I don't understand, their logo is still a rice bowl, but no rice bowl for you! Given this, I had to try it out. I like fried chicken, I like fried chicken a lot. I got the garlic butter and sweet and spicy. White and dark meat respectively. I wanted to like it, I really did and I tried so hard to like it. But there was nothing to like. Both cuts were very sweet. I like sweet, but these were like syrup sweet. It would've still been good flavorwise if the chicken was cooked well. But it was not. The white meat was so dry I desperately wanted some sauce to dip it in (note, you do not get sauce unless maybe you ask for it?) The dark meat was a little juicer, but the breading (skin?) Was so chewy that it literally hurt my teeth with all that sugar in it. I could not eat more then a couple bites of each until they went into the trash.TL:DR Korean Bab Bowls were awesome but are no longer available at this area. New fried chicken is just bad. Bring back bowls, bring back a customer.

We came for the grand re-opening of Bab x Chicken with a few co-workers. I've tried the bowls at the downtown location and the chicken wings at this location before the re-opening, so I was excited to try their KFC. We ordered a family combo and starter combo to share between the 5 of us.The snow chips is my new addiction! I recommend getting the 2 orders for $2.95 instead of only 1 for $1.95, you won't regret it! They are lightly dusted with powdered sugar and so crunchy and sweet. I got an extra two orders to go after finishing our meal.We wanted to try all three flavors of the chicken and they luckily accommodated us. I noticed that usually it's a pain to do this, so I was really grateful to be able to try all the flavors. Out of all three flavors, I liked the garlic butter the most. For their KFC, there is no bones, so it's actually easier to eat. I wouldn't say it's the most traditional way, but I liked not getting my fingers all messy and sticky. The other small plates were pretty good, but didn't really wow me. I would stick to the chicken and snow chips. We'll probably be back for more KFC later!

10/10 would recommend! Bab x Chicken is fantastic! They have gluten free options and the food is always so fresh! I'm a big fan of the sweet and spicy sauce on the gluten free wings! Also, be sure to try their bento box if you're looking to get some veggies as well. The service and food are always outstanding, you can't go wrong with anything from Bab! Bonus: Also check out their downtown location (Bab Cafe) for some amazing rice bowls!

The south Reno location has gone to chicken only. I don't know why. The chicken was amazing! But we ordered two sides: brown rice and coleslaw. The brown rice was severely undercooked, crispy, and not in a good way. The coleslaw had too much mayo and had a strange unidentifiable spice in it. We will return, but only for the chicken.

We love Bab Cafe. Their bowls are amazing. Imagine how disappointed I was to find out that they no longer have the Korean bowls, but, instead have Korean Fried Chicken. I was so disappointed. They were always so busy. So the fact that they don't have that product any longer. I left and went two doors down to Teryaki Madness, who does have bowls.

Bab Cafe opened in downtown Reno almost three years ago, with Korean rice bowls and other tasty tidbits. Their sister location at the south-end Summit mall was recently rebranded as Bab x Chicken, replacing the bowls with "reinvented Korean street food", bento boxes, and Korean fried chicken. I couldn't wait to try it. In Korea, deep-fried poultry is referred to as "chikin" or "KFC", a.k.a. Korean Fried Chicken. Dredged in a blend of wheat flour, corn starch, and a blend of familiar Western-style seasonings, the boneless morsels are double-fried in soy oil to ensure a crispy, sauced exterior. Bab x Chicken serves it up in combo meals, wraps, salads, and various ala carte servings with a choice of three sauces. Additional dipping sauces are available. I chose three, half-pound servings each of white meat, dark meat, and wings ($7.95 ea). For the breast meat I went with garlic butter, a simple mix of butter, salt, sugar, and garlic. Though definitely crispy, the meat bites were a bit inconsistent between being moist or dry. The sauce was garlicky and very buttery, almost to the point I felt I was downing a stick of the stuff. Perhaps not my favorite. A half pound of dark meat was doused in Bab Soy, a mix of sugar, Thai chile, onion and garlic powders, soy sauce, simple syrup, carrot, bouillon, salt, apple paste, rice starch, black pepper, lemon juice, plumb paste, and tomato paste. To its nature, the dark meat retained more moisture, the coating holding up well against the savory, sweet, slightly spicy goo. Good stuff. Out of curiosity I ordered a half-pound of gluten-free wings, with a mix of rice and corn flour subbing for wheat. The very sweet, medium spicy sauce consisted of sugar, red chile flake, ketchup, garlic powder, chile paste, salt, corn syrup, and capsaicin extract. Though the crust was crisp at the outset, it didn't take long for the rubbery skin's moisture and heavy sauce to render each bite a mushy disappointment. A chik stick ($3.95) was 6 inches of ground chicken mixed with carrot, onion, seasonings, and mozzarella cheese on a stick, drizzled with chile sauce and garlic mayo. Nothing fancy, and completely enjoyable. The texture was a bit like Thai satay, but with a melty cheese interior and a bit of heat. I'd happily grab a couple of these for lunch, as a snack, or at a ballpark. An oden cup ($1.95) was fish meatballs and fish cake in a broth of fish stock, soy sauce, and scallion. I really enjoyed this soup--it was all about the umami broth. Sides of pickled daikon radish and kimchi coleslaw were also enjoyed ($1.95 ea). The mild, diced radish was very crunchy, tart, and sweet. The slaw's mix of white cabbage, Napa cabbage, carrot, onion, fish stock, mayonnaise, vinegar, mustard, salt, sugar, black pepper, red chile flake, garlic, shrimp stock, ginger, onion, and radish was a little on the soupy side, but had remarkable flavor. Easily one of the most complex and enjoyable cabbage salads I've experienced. Finally, the snow chips ( $1.95), thin-sliced, deep-fried bits of sweet potato dusted in a mix of salt and sugar. These crispy little bits were cracktacular. They're more dessert than a side item. If you're catching a flick at the movie theater next-door, I'd recommend smuggling a bunch of these in for your cinematic snacking. You'll want more than one carton.

I really enjoy bab x chicken. Reno finally has a Korean fried chicken place and I hope to see this place thrive! Their chicken is packed with flavor and is super crunchy. I enjoy their side items like the kimchi cole slaw and oden cup which is soup with fish balls. I like to order ahead and get lunch there while I'm on my work breaks. The chicken also pairs well with the sauces they have. I highly recommend people to come. I also like that they now offer beer! Customer service is very good and the workers are very helpful in explaining the menu. If you guys are in the area please give this place a try. It is true they are not the rice bowl place anymore but the Korean friend chicken is unique and I appreciate the diversity it bings the summit.

So the menu has recently changed from the bowls to fried chicken and beer {4.50}. I ordered the half pound with Bap soy sauce. It came with sweet potato chips, kimchi coleslaw and a drink @ 9.95$. My order came out quickly and I received 4 good sized pieces that were crispy and sauced well. The chips were actually cold for some reason and I found the coleslaw too heavy on the mayo for my taste. This was my premovie snack and I had plenty of time although on a busier day it could cut close as several people picked up to go orders. I will do this again although I find the Summit is an inconvenient location and I only come for the special Fathom Event movie showings.
