Absolutely LOVE the 50s Diner and the jukeboxes! I went to Mel's before it closed due to the renovations at the Sands Regency. I can't wait for it to reopen in its new location. I will be back next time I'm in Reno!

I stopped by for lunch. I ordered the blackened salmon, mashed potatoes and cole slaw. The meal was tasty. The waitress was attentive. The restraunt was not busy so I was able view the memorabilia on the walls. This was fun looking at photos, posters and other memorabilia. If you are coming to Reno, Nevada be sure to stop by Mels. I am glad that I stopped by.

I've been coming up here for the last three years to bowl in a tournament at the end of every season. and today this guy Art. who works at Mills. wants to be rude, unacceptable, I eat here every time I come up to Reno I normally get good customer gservice & that is very prompt but today art ! Who didn't want to give me his name but I got it when he answered the phone and gave it to a customer over the phone! so I decided to take the time out and leave a small a comment on Art and his customer performance. when dealing with customers who had been in that establishment multiple times you should have respect for that customer who is a repeat customer!

Don't order room service from Mels if you are staying at Sands Regency. Supposedly they are open 24/7 during the weekend for room service according to the signs near the hotel check-in. I placed an order last night for 2 items at midnight. I got the confirmation page and email. I waited 2 hours before I gave up and went to sleep. Never received my food. I also called them after an hour of waiting, someone answered, didn't say anything and then hung up. I will be disputing this charge with my bank.

Only gave 4 stars because I went to have a hot fudge Sunday and of course they were out of it, After waiting in line almost a 1/2 an hour to get seated. In all fairness it was also bike week, very good Milkshake instead Excellent menu service was great.

No frills 50s-style diner but thats partially the charm. Servers are usually super friendly and always down to chat when not swamped during busy seasons. (Get there before 7am in late August/ early September ?)Breakfast is super solid, chocolate pancakes and Mel's potatoes are especially tasty! (My personal go-to: wolfman jack, over easy ?, sub the choco chip for regular 'cakes...+ some whipped cream if u feelin feisty)For more lunchtime fare, the burgers are very yummy as well! The serversThe tableside jukeboxes do work (press the back right shoulder after making selection, youngster!) But the music isn't very loud in the diner ? maybe ask the room (nicely) if they wouldn't mind turning up and the universe may provide. Also (you already knew) a veryyyy solid spot for meeting up with your camp comrades during the Burn season for pre/post-playa pow-wows!Like the playa, Mel's provides.

Great experience, stopped in two Mondays ago... all the way from Florida. The server was an older woman, did a great job for being low staffed. Working quickly and efficiently, as well as maintaining her positive attitude. Not to mention it was 11 PM... keep it up. Wish I could dine again!

Sad and pathetic this place STILL hasn't hired enough staff to be considered "normal". Only ONE waitstaff working? The people here obviously don't pay enough to find decent help and when you go to their website, instead of their food menu on top, you find a link where you can inquire about a job application. Yeah, no. Pay your staff decent wages already.

Horrible service, not busy enough to warrant the wait. Would not recommend. Food is just ok.

Ordered through DoorDash and when I received my mushroom Swiss burger with fries my fries were cold and hard and one bite made me throw them away. They tasted OLD which leads to food poisoning. The burger was not edible at all. Because it was BURNT. Dry and hard I had to waste an entire meal and money because of incompetence. Go somewhere else for quality.

Nothing makes me more upset than poor management and back talking. I have a really high patience level but if I'm a customer and I'm being nice to you, I don't care if you had a shitty day you set that aside. I don't need back talking. If Im coming to pick up my order YOU as a manager should be making sure the customer receives what they paid for. Never coming back again.

This is an old fashioned diner with old fashioned diner food. So you can get all of your comfort food classics here fairly well-made. Diner atmosphere.

Since I can't give it zero stars, I'll give them one star. Anyway, long story short- I placed an order with them for delivery and going on 2 hours now I still haven't received it. I called them several times and was hung up on, placed on hold and then hung up on and now they finally answered but said nothing and set the phone down. I'll be disputing this charge with my CC company tomorrow for FRAUD since they aren't delivering my order. These people need to learn customer service. I wouldn't order from them again even if they were the last s*** hole on the earth.

Went for some late lunch and ordered chili and cornbread. My cornbread had MOLD in it. I told the waitress and she took it away and came back to offer me a bread replacement. I politely declined (because now I'm kinda scared of their bread). I asked her later on for a possible discount and they came back to discount me my meal ($7.99) Now let me say. Our waitress, Denise, was AMAZING. She get an A for effort. The manager, however, was terrible. When we went to go ring our meal up, he asked how it was. Umm, moldy bread. Not great. This man looked at me and said "I don't know how that happened, we make it fresh every few days." Which made me feel like he thought I was lying. WHICH I WOULD NEVER. Denise, I hope you get a promotion or a raise or something, because you are lovely. However the manager, could use a lesson in customer service or at least a lesson on how to properly store cornbread.
