Stopped for lunch. Ordered the grilled chicken on ciabatta bread with bacon, apple, guerrier cheese and sundried tomato mayo. Delicious!

Also ordered a Blood Orange Margarita. Also Delicious.

The food is great. Service great. Prices on drinks are a bit too much. $19 for vodka rocks is too much. Usually $13 to $15. That's my only complaint

We had a really nice dinner here tonight. We were seated immediately. The restaurant was clean, had a nice atmosphere, and the staff were super nice and attentive.I had the eggplant meatball special and it was delightful.

Horace and Sylvias02/21/24I had to pick someone up from the Babylon Train Station, who was coming in from JFK, late in the evening, so I planned on getting a burger from Brixton, because someone told me it was good, and I figured parking wouldn't be an issue during the week? So, I get there, only to find out it's a "small plate" type place,(I didn't know!) and they were slider sized burgers..I should not be so dogmatic, but I declined. The bartender was nice enough to mention that the Villager, near the train station, up the street, had a good burger.I go to the Villager, only to find it packed, not a seat in the house.I walk around the corner to the Local, and there was not a seat at the bar, where I like to sit.So I walked back down to Horace and Sylvias where the place was relatively empty, and had a seat at the bar for me to occupy ?The things I do to taste Hamburgers!!!!?I order the burger my usual medium rare, no rabbit food, toast the bun, extra crispy French Fries..The first burger came out so far into well done, it was dry...I did take a bite into...If it had any juiciness in it, I would have kept it. It didnt, not a drop, so I asked for another one.The bartender could not be more professional about it.The second one came out my preferred, medium rare. The meat tasted good, but the blend they use was a bit too mild for me to put it into my upper tier of Burgers.Again, there was nothing wrong with it, just not worthy of my Top Tier burger statusThe toasted bun was complimentary to the meat, and the bun to meat ratio was perfect. The crispy French Fries were some of the best I had in a long time.Definitely cut in-house, rinsed, and soaked the proper way..I absolutely loved them.I would go back there just for a plate of them, and glass of wine ?I would not hesitate to recommend the burger, or the restaurant. The bartender was apologetic for the first burger, which in nice to see.He was polite, prompt, and professional. It a really nice restaurant, besides. The working Fireplace is an added bonus on a cold night.Parking was not an issue on a weekday night. Weekends are another story.I would definitely go back there for some of the other menu items, as they looked appetizingHorace and Sylvias02/21/2024

I ordered chicken sorrentino no taste and parts of the chicken were hard. Not enjoyable at all! I wanted marinated skirt steak but only Demi glaze now. The best thing was the salted caramel cheesecake and the waitress was a doll and didn’t rush us. I won’t be going back.

Idk where the chicken was for 30 dollars but there’s a picture of it. The biscuits to start came out burnt twice (idk why they bothered remaking it) and the other meal, cold zucchini, uncooked “prosciutto” and idk how can you can do this but the cheese was a broiled dried out piece of string ? Idk how to describe. I’m only posting this to do anyone i favor in time of inflation. Don’t waste your money here. The waitress was nice. Also could not see the menu in the back room by the kitchen, which by the way you can hear everything. For a town like Babylon I’m surprised … actually not really.

The entire experience was horrible from beginning to end. It took 20 minutes from the time we were sat for a server to come over to even take a drink order. At that time we put in drinks and food. My husband and myself ordered sandwiches, one son ordered a kids burger and the other had wings. It took over an hour and 15 minutes for the food to come out. It wasn’t just our table. There was another table that had tickets to a show and had to take their food to go because it took so long. I got a pastrami sandwich. It had maybe 2 slices of pastrami on the entire sandwich. My son’s burger was ordered medium. It was so burnt that he didn’t even eat it. My husbands sandwich was supposed to be on toasted Texas toast. It was just plain bread. The bathrooms were so horrendously disgusting. Our server was very sweet and kept apologizing for the wait and kept saying it was just so busy. Honestly, not even all the tables were full. There were plenty of open tables so it wasn’t that busy. If they are understaffed that’s understandable, then don’t seat people that you can’t serve. We were extremely disappointed. This place is not inexpensive so to pay those prices for that experience is completely unacceptable.

Came for lunch. Recently renovated. Sat in a booth, was hard and uncomfortable. Appreciated the interesting salad offering which was avocado with heart of palm. Margarita was $15...a bit steep. Parking is annoying..meters on street.

Vegetarian options: Salads.

Parking: Time limit on meters.

Kid-friendliness: Bar. Tables in back. Not really a kids' place.

Wheelchair accessibility: Sure..street level. Wide bathroom.

I wish I could leave a better review for Horace & Sylvia's because the food was great! However, like many other reviews before mine, I found the service to be terribly slow. My friend and I sat at the bar, and the bartender barely paid us any attention. In fact, my friend had to call him over from across the room because we had been waiting so long with no one taking our order. After we finally ordered our app and the entrees , the food was absolutely delicious, so hats off to the chef(s). However, again, when we wanted to pay our bill, the bartender paid us no mind and was too busy talking to his friends and coworkers about "hookup etiquette." None of this would have bothered me if I was not so hungry, if there was another bartender, or if the place was crowded. However, seeing as none of these were the case, I was pretty frustrated with how we were treated. I really hope this place works on their service because their food is divine!

I wanted to like this place more. The waitress was so nice and she tried but she couldn't keep up with the tables. Glasses and finished plates weren't cleared. I waited forever for a second round of drinks. Cake came out without the requested birthday candle. Flounder was good but it came with a too simple steamed broccoli wasn't worth the price even as a 'special'. Kids ice cream had nothing on it but a scoop of vanilla. Drinks were expensive (but I guess all restaurants are that way now). The ceiling vents were all dripping water into our drinks and food. I would not go back or recommend. 400$ including tip for 5 adults and 3 kids.
