Food is not consistent. Some days taste good some days are not. I think they have different chiefs. Chicken adobo was sour and for the past visits sisig starts to portion to getting small.

I honestly do not know why this establishment is not rated a 10 Stars across the board! The food is absolutely delicious ?. We have tried everything on the menu, and it is all amazing! That halo halo is disgusting, no and rip off, garlic rice terrible, adobo chicken was 3/10 and not traditional, rude waitress that makes you loose your appetite, this spot ranks the #1 worst filipino food spot, and i tried over 30 filipino spots, only thing that was decent but pricey was the

Overall, the service and staff were very nice and attentive. Ambiance is comfortable and quiet. Ordered japchae with beef, pancit, lechon and fresh lumpia along with a Makku. The japchae was delicious with beef with deep searing. By far the best dish. The lechon is just as others have described- juicy and crispy with a great sauce. The pancit was a little boring but we couldn't tell if it was because we were eating it with japchae. The fresh lumpia was different. Mostly tasted of Napa cabbage and other crunchy veggies. But the Makku- what a delicious beverage. I will definitely be looking for that in stores. I would recommend a visit if you are interested in delicious lechon and japchae.

I’ve been coming to Purple Yam for over ten years semi regularly and the quality is just insanely consistent. I don’t really deviate from the Chicken Adobo (which has such an incredible sauce, I love the coconut milk addition to it) and the Beef Tapsikog with fried eggs and garlic fried rice. They are both absolute sureshots. Dumplings are also incredible. They do different ones every day. Romy is an absolute legend and deeply cares about the quality they’re putting out. Highly, highly recommended!

Very dissatisfied. I came here to get the lumpia. It was tasteless. Pork is supposed to be flavor full. I had to doctor it up with seasoning and run it through the air fryer. I will be looking for another restaurant for lumpia.
Delicious brunch, my favorite spot on Cortelyou. Ask about todays specials, and any recommendations from the chef if you are unfamiliar with the menu

I was really just looking for dessert, so I stopped in for some halo halo. The portion size was enormous, but unfortunately it seemed like it was mostly ice. It was a lot more expensive than I would have liked it to be to boot.

I would have to say my experience here was quick and and I was very disappointed. The owner seemed to have been busy doing some kind of interview, yet the waitress with the green hair was not friendly towards us. She seemed a bit irritated with us for no reason. I felt that reflected in the service she gave to us. Her attitude towards us made me feel that I would not want to ever come back here. I observed the table next to us had great service. We ordered something small to eat and we didn’t ask for much because we were looking to try some sweets from the Philippines. I understand if she had a bad day, but I feel that if the owner was serving us, it would have been a better experience. The woman with the green hair had an unpleasant demeanor towards us which made me write this.

Food looks and tastes homey. I think the food should be a bit larger portion. Get the Soju and any juice to make your own cocktail. It'll be cheaper and tastier than buying from Bartender.
Excellent service. Decent atmosphere. Bland food.
