So romantic and the service is always ready to handle your every need. Cocktails went down so smooth and the chef is kind enough to give complimentary dishes to enhance the experience. This was a celebration of my love’s birthday and definitely will be one to remember. Highly recommend sunset reservations and do them in advance as they book quickly.

With a reputation that far proceeds it, I can certainly say that it delivers on expectations. Service and quality of food are top-notch. In addition, this restaurant has an absolutely beautiful view of the Hudson River. Pricing is high as expected. However, this is a lovely place for special occasions.

An hour and a half waiting for dessert. Seeing how other diners came in after us and left having had dinner and we were waiting for dessert… A shame!

I came to the river cafe last night for no special occasion, just because life is too short and I had been meaning to go. The atmosphere and service is here is exceptional! Everyone is warm and courteous and makes you feel special on your night out. The garden before the restaurant is beautiful, and the flowers inside are pretty. I was reluctant with the coat check but it was warm inside so it was fine. You won’t open a single door here because everyone is there to serve you (literally). The palate cleanser the chef sent over was delightful. The Parmesan custard so neatly placed inside the egg, perfect. He also sent over a couple of starters before our appetizer, the gnocchi was good, but my butternut squash was “ok”, I don’t normally like it and he didn’t change my mind about it. I got the scallops and they were perfectly cooked, and the cauliflower purée complimented it nicely. Our entrees were a bit disappointing for me. The lamb was good, but I’ve had better, in fact I feel I have made better. But the pea purée and the eggplant served alongside it were well done. My lobster tail was also good but not exceptional. I happen to not enjoy kale very much, so therefore I didn’t love the kale pesto underneath it. For dessert I got the grapefruit soufflé and it was delightful. My mother got the chocolate bridge cake and it was scenic to eat alongside the water overlooking the Brooklyn bridge. All in all, a wonderful experience, I would do it again and I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to try it!

My latest visit to this gem in BK confirmed it as my top pick for dining out, hands down. The Mediterranean Sea bass, encrusted with shrimp, remains unmatched in the borough, reminding me of the exquisite flavors found at cafe Boulud. This time, I ventured beyond my go-to dish and was pleasantly surprised by the black bass accompanied by a fish bone reduction; the passion fruit addition to the Brooklyn bridge dessert was a delightful twist. While the tortellini with morel mushrooms left me wanting just a bit more from the appetizers, the overall experience, including the cozy yet sophisticated ambiance of the dining room with its unbeatable city views, keeps me coming back. Definitely a place to cherish in good old BK.

Visited this gem for the third time and it just keeps getting better, honestly. Opted for the Mediterranean Sea bass again - can't seem to get enough of it, it's like a culinary hug from the Mediterranean itself. The place was buzzing, missed the patio vibes this go around but the dining room did its magic, elegant yet not too uptight, you know. Missed seeing the secret garden, feels like a different world out there, but hey, there's always next time. Oh, and ran into a wedding party on the way out, added a nice touch of joy to the evening.

More of a cultural icon than a real culinary innovation at this point, the River Cafe delivers on an upscale fine dining experience. If you're looking for a solid FD experience with a view in Brooklyn, this is a great option.

WONDERFUL restaurant, as seen in the (1988) Eddie Murphy movie, "Coming to America."
