Cute place, but the food seems to have declined. The French onion soup used to be top 5, yesterday it was low in flavor and oily, and I dunno what that cheese was. Fried chicken sandwich was good.Service: 4/5

This place is awesome, in every respect! Someone wrote that "the atmosphere is dark and dated," which is humorous, and ignorant, as it is an hystorically preserved building. Fabulous!...if you know what you are looking at : )

Absolutely no sympathy for a 20 minute soup and an hour for our meals that were super over cooked .. not usually a complainer but the lack of care I saw tonight was horrendous.. then politely telling the manger how our experience was not good she was super inconsiderate I will never return as long as ur ok with rude condescending people this is the place for you! Also don’t insult me because of where I’m from!

Terrific food. We loved our steak frit. Very tasty and nice portion with delicious fries. Waiter was pleasant. Great federalist style inn and restaurant. Very nice outdoor eating area on the large porch. With pleasant view of town of Callicoon. Looking forward to coming back.

Sat outside for dinner. Ambience was pleasant, as was the neighborhood, and staff super accommodating. The dishes were a mix of gems and misses. The steak crostini would have been much better with warm steak instead of cold (probably my fault for not asking). The steak in the Thai salad was the same as in the crostini, the salad was over salted (it was probably the dressing), and just overall underwhelming. The local trout was delicious. My niece thoroughly enjoyed her western burger. The cod was tasty but a bit over salted. Overall it was a pleasant find and you can certainly find yummy options.
Stopped by for a light lunch. Tasty salad with Thai dressing and marinated steak on top. Had strawberries and pickled red onion as well. Delightful.

I’ve stayed here several times, Clean rooms, some are pet friendly which is a plus. Hotel has a restaurant & bar on premises also located in the center of town & next door to Callicoon brewery & Catskill distillery. The town is small so everything is walkable.Also ideal location in Catskills for Rafting/Kayaking & Antique shopping!

I had to make an unplanned visit to the Western Hotel last night. From the moment I walked in I received amazing care from Renee who booked me a room right away, it was a very easy process and it was handled with kindness, which I really needed in that moment. (She even went and got me a glass of wine from the bar while I was still checking in, WOW what service!) It was still going to be a little while until my room was ready which was no problem, there’s a very comfortable bar and porch and tables out back. It’s a lovely setting and really cute place. I had some wine and ordered dinner to go from Kim, who also provided excellent, and I mean EXCELLENT, far beyond your basic pleasant service. The room itself was very cute, clean, perfectly comfortable. I will definitely be back!!! Thank you!!

Irene is a very poor business manager and is extremely rude and arrogant. I would not recommend her overpriced hotel or her apartments. If your looking for a peaceful stay this is not it!
