I had a really nice time when I spent the day at Windy Acre Farms. The ride out from Queens took a little over an hour without any traffic. The foliage on the way out was beautiful. When we arrived, we parked and checked out the market store. Within a minute, we were greeted by a lovely woman who explained the deal bout the U-Pick apples. We happened to come on a day when they had just dropped the prices to $10 (from $12.50) for a quarter-peck bag, which holds about 10-12 medium sized apples. The walk from the farm stand to the orchard is about 10 minutes (if that). They had a lot of different types of apples, and I had no problem filling my bag. It was a lot of fun walking up and down the apple aisles and checking out all of the different varieties.I will definitely visit again in the future! When we left, we hit up the farm stand. They had a 9 pound broccoli for only $3! I didn't get it (although I've dreamt about it every day since), but I did get a blueberry crumb cake and it was delicious!

My husband, son, and I went here last week to enjoy some apple picking. We had a lovely day. Even though it's a little late in the season, there were a bunch of different varieties of apples to choose from. The price for apple picking was really fair. We opted to get 2 totes (they charge per person) instead of the box. We were able to fit a bunch of apples in each tote. It was more than enough for the two of us, and we got to collect a great variety of apples to try.On our walk to and from the orchard, we were greeted by some beautiful farm animals, including sheep, goats, chickens, a horse, and pony. There's also a nice playground for kids to play on, but we will have to wait until my son is a little older to enjoy that. The farm stand/market is worth a visit on its own. The produce was beautiful and fresh, the prices were great, and there was a great variety of fresh and packaged foods. In addition to our apple totes, we went home with a blueberry crumb cake. It was SO good. I wish I got her name, but the woman working during our visit was fantastic. It was great talking with her and learning a bit about the farm.Windy Acre Farms will definitely be a yearly (or maybe twice a yearly) tradition for my family moving forward. It's definitely worth checking out if you're looking to participate in a pick-your-own experience.

I give this place 1 star due to the racist staff members. After my family and I went apple picking we went to the inside market. My grandpa bought a pie, cookies and some apple cider. After my grandpa paid he went back to buy some more apple cider. The lady behind the counter accused him of stealing, she got very nasty and yelled at him. My grandpa is 80 and when he tried to explain to her that he didn’t steal anything she told him to go back to his country. My grandpa is a Dominican immigrant. Since the lady forgot to give him a receipt the first time they made him pay for the pie, apple cider and cookie again. Will not be going back here.

A little bit of everything! While the place isn't huge, it has a small playground area, field of pumpkins, apple picking, food concession stands, some animals, etc... No entrance fee and the food prices aren't egregious. For apple picking, a small box for $45 covers 4 ppl..

Unfortunately, what was a nice day was ruined by terrible workers. While in the market buying some items before leaving my grandfather was accused of stealing. He had paid for his items, went to grab one more thing, went back to the counter to pay for the additional item and was yelled at by the lady behind the counter. when he told the lady he had paid she asked for a receipt. But because the other lady at the counter didn’t give him one she said she was sick of people like him. My grandfather is an immigrant here who has never stolen a day in his life. And for some lady who clearly was unhappy about a non white person being there he left embarrassed and upset at the whole place.

Decided to try Windy Acres over Harbes since it was a little less expensive. It was a mistake to say the least. Came on a Monday since they’re “open” but I wouldn’t say that’s true. No tractor and no concession stand but still charge fullPrice for apple picking. Went to buy donuts from the farm stand and everything is covered in flies. Tried to take my toddler to the bathroom and wasn’t a single square of toilet paper to be found. Rather spend more money for a cleanlier experience at Harbes.

Went in for their homemade pies. They were 20.00. The filling was delicious, but the pie crust wasn't as good. Not flaky at all.

The cutest area for kids to play, great food, and good selection of apples! Please bring back the honor system when leaving the apple orchards. We got chased down because while we were leaving we didn’t realize they check all your stuff to make sure you don’t steal apples . It wasn’t just a small check . They emptied our diaper bags and thoroughly checked our stroller . We paid $50 for apples to begin with.. we’re not there to steal. It’s all families there.
