Little pricey, but pizza is fabulous! Unfortunately, calzones we took home were burned & dried out.

First time customers. We got a half meatball half sausage pie. It was delicious! The meatballs were outstanding. Salad and their house vinaigrette was good too. Draft beer was ice cold. Good service also. Will be back.

It was welcoming atmosphere in the beginning. The person that took my order disappeared. I wasn't able to find the person. I had to ask someone else for the check. Outside of this, they have beautiful oven and the pizza was great.

Terrible customer service by their manager Andrea and mediocre pizza. Don’t waste your time coming here for rude service and mediocre expensive pizza.

Ordered two pizzas over the phone. I asked for 1 18inch margarita pie and one 18inch regular pie with 1/2 pepperoni. Came out to $58 dollars. I received two margarita pies with half pepperoni on one. Both with extremely light sauce. I usually would expect some tomato sauce little chunks of tomato in the sauce. Nope. I called to complain and was met with Andrea their manager. Explained my dissatisfaction and was given no solution. If anything she just gave excuses and debated back with me. That their “regular pie” is a margarita and that they don’t serve Neapolitan pizza. I asked why the person on the phone didn’t clarify that for me when I asked for a margarita and a “regular pie”. She said that the woman was “brand new” and that they didn’t have the time to list off types of pizzas they offer and that they don’t even serve Neapolitan style pizza. Place was basically empty when I picked up the food. She asked me to email her photos and if there is light sauce that she’ll let the kitchen know of any mistake of measuring of the pizza sauce. I’ll admit I got nasty at the end only because I wasn’t offered a credit for a pie, wasn’t offered to remake the pie for me only until I mentioned her poor customer service. Did not enjoy my meal.

It had been quite a while since my last visit to Grimaldi’s Pizzeria in Garden City, so I decided to stop by again for a nostalgic slice. I went in around 4:00 PM on a weekday, and the place was almost empty, just one table occupied and a couple of guests at the bar. I mentioned I was dining alone, and the staff invited me to sit anywhere I liked. That warm, welcoming attitude hasn't changed, and it was a pleasant surprise to recognize some of the same servers from years ago. It's always a good sign when a place retains its staff over the years.

I ordered a large pie with Cajun chicken. I used to love their Cajun shrimp pizza, which unfortunately is no longer on the menu, something I hope they consider bringing back. The pizza arrived in under 15 minutes, which was great. It looked exactly how I remembered it—thin, coal-fired, and generously portioned. However, the taste was slightly off from what I recall. The crust was slightly overcooked (not enough to send it back, though), and the Cajun chicken was too salty and lacked the spiciness I expected. It felt like something was missing, maybe a flavor or seasoning that made it more memorable in the past.

That said, the service remained top-notch: polite, friendly, and attentive without being overbearing. I had three slices and had the rest packed to go. Prices have definitely gone up, like everywhere else these days, but still fair considering the portion and quality.

Overall, it was a pleasant return visit. While the flavor didn’t quite hit the same notes as before, the atmosphere, service, and quick turnaround make Grimaldi’s a solid spot for a casual pizza outing. A few tweaks to the toppings and seasoning would easily bump this to a 5-star experience

Our favorite local pizzaria! Best traditional thin crust, brick oven pizza on Long Island. Nice full bar too.

Could be 5 stars, but they’re missing the mark on the dough

The pizza itself has great potential—but the dough is significantly under-salted. For context, classic pizza dough recipes typically use salt at 2–3% of flour weight. While I agree that 3% can be too salty for some, 2% is the sweet spot. This place is using around 1%, if that.

I brought it up with the guy making the pizzas, and he acknowledged they use less salt, saying their customers “don’t like salt.” I guess I’m not considered a customer?

Just so it’s clear—there isn’t a single traditional pizza dough recipe out there that recommends less than 2% salt. Even the original Grimaldi’s would never cut it this low. In my opinion, they’re ruining what could be an excellent pizza. Because of this, I personally avoid coming here.
