I write reviews only when my experience has been very disappointing. And even then, I do not rush into it. This is the second unsatisfactory meal we have had in the past 4 months. While only a correlation, both times the older generation was notably absent. The service staff were trying their best, but it takes more than that to manage mis-timing of dishes and mediocre preparation of food. Defensiveness followed by an apology doesn't cut it. The Tandoori shrimp was served after all other dishes were consumed. We're not fast eaters and we were gently balled out for expecting a cooked dish of this sort to be prepared more quickly. We only asked that they serve all of the dishes in close proximity. The shrimp were crispy, tender and tasty. But the onions and green pepper were raw, not roasted. And the eggplant bhartha had a strong lemony flavor and completely lacked the subtle smoky deliciousness that it used to have. The onion kulcha was very good, as was the table rice. The quality of this one-time local gem has sadly taken a nose dive. Will not return.

Visited yesterday for the first time. I ordered the chicken curry lunch special, and it was very oily and bland. Good nan and passable chutney.

Must have a new cook. Been going for years. Used to love their food. Now it’s tasteless, watery and order for takeout takes forever. Not sure what changed, but it’s bad. They’ve lost us as a customer. If it’s cost, I would have paid more for things to stay the same. But now it’s not good and still costs more. Shame.

I used to love this place. Went there for years. However the last couple of years, up to yesterday, the food has gone downhill especially for take-out. Yesterday was the last straw. I don't think I will ever go to House of India again. Do they think we don't know what it's supposed to be like? How about edible? This makes me sad and mad. My okra was chock-full of tough, unchewable rough pieces - and I do mean unchewable. It was also dried out and the seasoning was done so poorly and too heavily. And my keema paratha wasn't cooked all the way - mushy uncooked dough mixed with the meat although the edges of the bread were charred. For this I paid $30!!!!! I'm DONE with this place. They need some competition. This was the first time I've ever thrown out half of my meal.

The butter chicken and garlic naan were wonderful. I wish that they were in my town. Service was courteous and went out of the way to help. Will eat again when I'm in town.

Had a take out.. food was bland and tasted old. Seems like it was cooked over and over for 2 days. Such a disappointment. Save your money. Don’t go or order from house of India.
