Huge tourist trap where the fort was rebuilt on sacrade soil to lure people in. Plus the bogus bumps and freights. Nothing original at all.

Loved the detail. Learned so much in a very short time. Wish we had longer to spend here. Highly recommend

We parked in the lot (2 an hour metered parking) and intended to see the Fort, restrooms closed for renovation and gift shop closed for season!! But no off season prices for entry - $25 for an adult entry. Unlike some of the other historic sites we have visited, this one looked like an amusement attraction.

Haunted history tour was a good time.Galen and Conner are a good team that work well together. They took us up to watch the fireworks before the tour, which was a fantastic opportunity.Other staff members;the woman who takes the tickets and the lady at the parking booth were friendly and provided alot of information.

Lot of fun learning about this short-lived fort. Very sad short life too. But history is our past and the teaching folks made it seem they were the people at the fort then. SpoilerThe fort was burned to the ground after a defeat. Lone part of a single fireplace remains.

Fun tour of replica fort on original site. See a musket shot and cannon fire right in front of you! First tour guide in the opening room speaks very fast and someone monotone - not easy to follow but better than nothing. Fun to explore other rooms and rooftop view of Lake George. Attached to massive gift shop. Note that it’s not a state or federal park but a private museum owner and operated by the hotel next door. Diorama’s and artifacts feel like they’ve been there since the 90s. Could use some technology and a more coherent presentation of the location/story. But 4 stars instead of 3 because of the live fire reenactment which were both well explained!

I recently went on a group tour of Fort William Henry and had an absolute blast! We partook in the evening haunted tour and I have to say - Galen and Connor were fantastic guides. They filled it out with informative stories that were just as spooky as they were entertaining and full of historical fact. If you're in the neighborhood take the evening tour and see if you feel the spirits too!

History comes alive at Fort William Henry. It is a restored Colonial fortress of 1755-1757 French and Indian War era located at the strategic south end of Lake George, an important part of the water transportation system used by both Native Americans and the EuropeansVisitors to the Fort have an opportunity to experience plenty of history: the long boiling tensions between global superpowers, the early days of a new nation and its impact on indigenous peoples, and the backdrop for one of American literature’s great novels. Visitors can experience this living museum with guided tours, historical interpreters, musket and cannon fire demonstrations, and self-guided tours. In the fall, the Fort hosts Haunted History Tours featuring guided tours of spooky spots at the Fort and some great ghost stories. If you are a history buff, this is a must-do for you.

This place was very kind to allow me to charge my phone, which I did by the grace of two hotel staff at the front. The nice black gentleman immediately allowed me, and the nice white one would've said no, but, thanks to Christ, people are endowed with manners and Kindness, and so, through politeness, I was helped. Now I can sleep peacefully outside, listening to the sounds of "Govinda". How Nice!Praise be to God and Kindness. As for the outside of the hotel decor, never having been a "guest" here (we're guests to this whole world, not just hotels), I will simply say the front entrance is an excellent presentation of creature comfort and joy. I can tell the rooms are comfortable, with ease in sleep and hygiene. It's looks like the 1800s, with excellent modern flavor. Or, modern and classy, yet with a 1800s elegant feel.I love you all. Thanks for precious time in reading.

I’ve visited the Fort reconstruction several times over the last two decades. There has been an effort to present how this one small fort played such an important role in the British conquest of the North American frontier from the French. There are ramps up to the battlements overlooking the immediate area. The view across Lake George toward the north is impressive.

I visited this history museum this past Memorial Day Weekend. I absolutely loved it. The tour guides who are dressed in colonial garb were very informative and entertaining. The actual tour is only for an hour, but you can stick around to explore the fort on your own, which would take about another hour. I think the cost of admission is pretty reasonable per person for the overall experience. I highly recommend visiting this museum as it is a great learning experience for both adults and kids. Also, before leaving the museum, be sure to check out the great gift shop in the entrance area.
