Their sushi meat wasn’t tough and rubbery like it is in most sushi places and the house sake was a hit. The food came out immediately and the staff were nice. Plus the bathroom was fairly clean.FYI we came on a night where it wasn’t too busy. But I had no complaints about the service. The only thing is that the price might be too high for some people, and the portion sizes may be slightly smaller. But the high quality of the food made it worth it for me.

We came for valentines dinner and I think it was too busy of a night for the restaurant crew to handle. Pretty sure at some point they lost track of where everyone was in their omakase course. The sushi chef was so busy he gave up even telling us the fish names. We waited a good 10 min between each course and they also messed up the delivery order ( we got some appetizer after starting on sushi)They have pretty good fish and I think I agree with one of the other reviews stating they’re the best sushi place in the little neck/bayside area. The only thing that was weird was the appetizer egg was cold. Anyway, just don’t come on a busy night. Not worthWow!update, they charge you 4% for using a credit card. Lame.

Food is good, but owners push you to pay cash otherwise they hit you with the fee. So be advised of the 4% credit card fee prior to dining there... By far the most egregious CC fee I've seen.

Ordered take out:Fried squid legs- still crunchy & delicious despite being a take out.Smoked Toro- toro topped with an uni, one small piece, for i believe $18? $15? Pricey but absolutely phenomenal however, that’s where it ended.Spicy tuna roll had fibrous stringy fish that you couldn’t chew, had to literally pull it out, ugh. It just ruined my dinner.

My Omakase experience at Tara was great! The sushi was delicious and the choices offered were a mix of standard pieces and some interesting renditions. Be ready to spend $90-120 depending on if you chose 12 or 16 courses, but I still think that it's worth it. Service was decent. Lots of room, tables spaced a good distance apart to provide a good atmosphere.

beautiful space, great service, yummy food. been here a few times and their food is always good. some portions are small. owner is friendly.sushi is delicious. they have great fresh wasabi. ramen is light yet flavorful. age tofu comes with spicy sauce, not the typical sauce most restaurants have. miso cod is soft and flaky. fried chicken is good, comes with spicy sauce.would recommend and would come again.

Me and my family went there for ramen. As for those experience, the half-boiled egg isn't marinated as expected and is plain. The spicy ramen broth is basically the use of kimchi powered flavor. My normal non-spicy broth tastes like plain based vegetable broth. The meat on it has a great sear, but overall expectation was a disappointment and for the price and not the kind I want to fully empty the bowl to.

First of all, if you want to make a reservation (especially for weekend dinner), make sure CALL to reserve a table. We used google and then they could not find our reservation. They should just turn off the function on Google or Yelp reservation. Just saw other reviewer had the same problem. Therefore, the first impression was unwelcoming. We luckily sat down before the restaurant became full later of the evening. We quickly ordered hot sake to start the night, but the hostess brought us a jar of sake bathing in ice. I was so shocked and this made my face wrinkled up though the hostess immediately apologized and fixed it. We ordered 16 course omakase set $138, 1 sushi set $42, 1 sashimi set $42. Overall appetizers for omakase is creative and pretty, and fish is so fresh. You can taste two Hokkaido uni dish, one in the starter and one on sushi. It is really worthy of the price. I'd give 5 stars for the omakase. Sushi and sashimi sets are both good and fresh, but they come with low quality of wasabi that looks like green food coloring mashed stuff. The ambiance is casual and warm. The manager engaged with every table, such as giving complimentary beer or making Gin & tonic with Roku gin, my favorite and the best gin from my perspective. It is a nice touch. Everything went well until paying the bill. They charged extra 4% credit card service alongside tax & regular 18% of service. We were clueless about cash payments preferred here. However we only had $100 in the wallet. Tips for you who want to try:1. Call the phone line to make a reservation 2. Order omakase so you can have real wasabi3. Bring enough cash
