Rating based on the following order, very kind service, and good ambiance!!!- chicken liver pate/mousse.. was so delicious and a perfect amount for 2 people! Top highlight.- prosciutto melon: great meat, great melon, some fresh mint.- crispy branzino.. LOVED this. Love the way they debone it then open it up so it’s flat so they can perfectly crisp up all of the skin. WAs so delicious. Top highlight- mushroom linguini is crack. I can eat 4 bowls of it. Top highlight.- broccolini with the carrots and sesame wow sooo good sauce was amazing and you can taste the charred flavor of the broccolini- fresh oysters as well!! Didn’t love the dressing rather have a classic mignonette or cocktail sauce but the oysters were freshAmazing gin cocktail I had with gin lemon cucumber and basil. Not sweet at all. Refreshing and delish
One of the most enjoyable meals I’ve shared with my family in a long time. Each dish was beautifully prepared and the flavors were spectacular. The service was outstanding making for a memorable evening. Thanks so much. We’ll be back!
The service is impeccable. The food is good. The cost is a bit high for the experience, but a great place if you want to guarentee a nice night and solid dining/ cocktails.
Bellwether had been one of our favorite neighborhood places. But our most recent experience there (5/21/22) was a disappointment. The place never was inexpensive but it provided good value for its Manhattan-range prices. Last night, the portions were smaller than in the past and the cooking itself mediocre-- at the same prices. I'd had the duck breast before and enjoyed it, enough to order it again. What I got was two thin strips of duck, both thick with fat, surrounded by a few pearl onions. My partner's pasta was considerably smaller in portion size than in the past. We both left hungry. But just as disappointing was the service, which always had been topnotch on our previous visits. Our server was inattentive, and when he brought the dessert menu, he disappeared for a long stretch--we saw him chatting away with a coworker, completely ignoring us. When he deigned to return to our table and to ask what we wanted, we said, nothing--you made us wait too long. Then he brought us our check, and once again, made us wait an unacceptably long time while he did some clean-up at the bar. My partner got up from our outside table and brought the check inside. You'd think after we complained about the long wait to take our dessert order he'd have gotten the message. But no. And there was only one other party, of two, in the place at the time. So, to sum up, disappointing food at high prices and poor service means it'll be a long time before we return to Bellwether.
VERY PROFESSIONAL! came here for a date night. While eating, my partner and I were already talking about eating here again. Love it!! so classy and made us very comfortable.
food is ok. service & atmosphere terrible. Totally not NYC, no cocktail on demand, close kitchen at 8:30pm, no coffee after, close curtains 9:30 while still eating & full glasses. Sad & pretentious.
The food. And that’s it.
Food is really good. Full stop. Service is extremely poor, especially to NYC standards: they have a full bar and bartender but don’t want to make a cocktail on demand, there where most NYC bars and restaurants exactly excell in this. It’s a fancy place, a Wednesday evening, but the kitchen already closes at 8:30pm. We want to order a cofffee at the end of the meal around 9:30pm, but “the coffee machine is already closed”. We are still there with full glasses of wine, 9:45, they already close the curtains and start to clean up the place. We pay 500$ for really nice food and very pretentious, unprofessional, poor amateuristic service. Sad…
My wife and I loved this three-time Michelin starred restaurant, pre-pandemic, which closed for a while, and comments from friends who went back said it was still regaining its footing. Our first time back was a bit of a disappointment. I always say, in my reservations, that I'm a pescatarian who needs gluten-free, and, pre-pandemic, the hostess and servers always knew about this without prompting. This time, with staff that was completely unfamiliar to us, the reservation request was ignored, and our server, after being told that I eat no meat, had an interesting conception of what was meat (not chicken), and what was seafood (not calamari). I immediately lost any confidence in her suggestions of what dishes were gluten-free, and went with what I was pretty sure was safe for me to eat: a starter of Wellfleet oysters -- for which I asked horseradish instead of the tomato fresco (which was like ketchup) it came with. The horseradish finally appeared after two reminders, and after I had already eaten two of the three ordered oysters, which were flavorful. My wife's Sasso Chicken -- with grilled spring onions, butter beans, and guajillo jus (Guajillo chiles are supposed to have a sweet, fruity, tangy, smoky flavor profile with notes of berries and tea) tasted overly salty, and while the chicken itself was expertly prepared, it was probably the chili sauce kept my wife up that night. The only main I dared eat, the Day Boat Halibut -- with sweet and sour cipollini onions, braised bok choy, and shaved fennel -- was perfect. For dessert, I tried the Tapioca Pudding with Vanilla Gelato to share, but my wife passed after trying the tapioca -- the cassava pearls seemed too big and slithery. All in all, with so many competing restaurants in the area, we're disappointed, and in no hurry to return.
Heard a ton of good things about Bellwether and had to try it out. Honestly, wasn’t blown away by any of the dishes I tried, despite their photogenic presentation. Still an enjoyable time in a great location. I’ll likely be back the next time they rotate their menu—appreciated the freshness of the food and still is one of the better restaurants in LIC.

Great dinner. Everything was amazing: fluke ceviche, broccooini, crab appetizer, lamb chops. Very creative menu with unexpected flavor combinations that work very well. All the cocktails were very good too. The only weird thing was when we asked for just regular bread (to sop up amazing sauces), they toasted it and drizzled olive oil and charged $4. For bread.
The key to earn 5 stars is consistency and Bellwether knows how’s to deliver.Everything on the menu is fresh, well paired with flavors, clean and simply delicious. The menu is not huge but every item is well thought out.Service and ambiance are also an A+
Found this gem accidentally but so glad we did. We dined on incredible food in their outside space and service was wonderful. Highly recommend eating here.
Food, Drinks, and service was incredible! Beautiful presentation matched with incredible flavors! I could not pick a favorite dish we ordered or find anything negative to say about any of the dishes. I will definitely be back to try more of the menu!
Staffs don’t wear masks:( with the delta string going on that seems unsafe to me
