Sad news for Indian food lovers on Manhattan. Amma, the best Indian restaurant has closed. I'm hoping they will open us somewhere else but for now, they have vacated the space. Their food was my favorite. I live close by so I was there regularly. Before the pandemic, the place was packed every night. There was a nice ambiance, the wait staff was attentive and the food had a very balanced feel to it. Not too salty, or too oily or even too spicy. It kind of felt like home cooking...read full review
The food and service was excellent . The food was freshly made and tasted delicious . We had the lunch specials which was good sized portions and filling . They maintain all Covid protocols and the place was very clean and neat .
We were looking to try a different restaurant for our Christmas Eve dinner. I found Amma on Open Table and the menu and reviews looked good. Turns out we we arrived at Amma, my wife said “we've eaten here before”. It must have been years ago. Turned out the food was excellent and the service was good. It was a pleasant Christmas Eve dinner that we both enjoyed.
