Was hopeful, as others have stated, but was disappointed. Steak frites were tough and overcooked and not so flavorful. Octopus appetizer was chewy. Beet salad was okay. Service was so-so. All-in-all, super disappointing. Any place calling itself a French bistro should have steak frites down to a science!

We had a very enjoyable meal at the bar. The entrees were both very good: generous and tasty scallops with leeks, gnocchi with mushrooms was rich with umami. Leak starter was good (but not as good as the entrees). Nice white Burgundy. We will be back.

Food was excellent. Octopus was a substantial size to share and we loved it. Salmon is a healthy portion with sides to accompany and the scallops were excellent. Our waiter was particularly good with helping us with wine selection. My only complaint was the atmosphere, particularly the music. They were playing Top 40 pop playlist relatively loudly in a restaurant that has cotton napikns, quality wine, and charges ~$32 for an entree. It was a confusing atmosphere.

Low quality food for an expensive price. The bread was hard and tasted of plastic. Unfortunately fresh as you would expect of a friendship restaurant. The appetizers were fine (escargot and steak tartare), however, overpriced for the quality. The red wine was warm (likely over room temperature). The duck was overpriced for the quality and overcooked/tough. The bread pudding waa s microwaved and served in a broken a sauce. The wait staff, however, were incredibly kind.

Fine, I guess. Very expensive for what it is. I suppose I should expect to pay $60 for a $10 bottle of wine in Manhattan. But $50 for a small roasted chicken? And the chicken was so dry that the white meat was inedible. And it comes without sides, so an additional $10 if you want some greens with your chicken. The staff was friendly and the decor is nice, but you can do a lot better at these prices. It won't be here long.

I arranged a family reunion tonight for six people at Le Petite Rooster. For most of the meal, we were the only people in the restaurant. You would think we would get wonderful service, being the only customers. But it was just the opposite. Any time we wanted service, the waiter was nowhere to be found . On a regular basis, we had to ask the busboy to find the waiter to order cocktails, to order dinner, to order dessert, even to get the check, which was for $366. This was a very important meal for me and in my opinion the waiter practically ruined it. You can be sure I will never be back, and will convey my irritation at your outrageously bad service if anyone want my opinion. You need BETTER SERVICE!

OK so where shall we begin. This place is an absolute rip off. Authenticity didn't even come knocking at the door. Man, the guy who handles the radishes also handles the cash and doesn't wash his hands in between. So how can you screw up ratatouille? By having eggplant in the ratatouille description on the menu and then replacing the eggplant with cauliflower when you serve it. Total fake. OK so I send back the fake ratatouille. Let's try onion soup. French onion soup. This French sounding restaurant should be able to get that right. No such luck. Some sugary goo mixed with onions or whatever. It was simply sweet, very sweet. This doesn't deserve to be called a restaurant. My guest ordered chicken. Roasted chicken. D'Agostino makes it better. It's simply MSG sprinkled on top. Disgusting. Oh, and yes, we got the dinner menu, it was only 3 o'clock when we arrived.

Really hard to beat this new neighborhood gem when it comes to combination of quality of food and value. Can't think of an UWS with better escargot, Brussel sprouts & roast chicken. Only thing that can stand to improve is cocktail list. It will be good news for the neighborhood if this place stays around for a long time.

My friend and I were anticipating this new addition to our UWS restaurant scene. After reviewing their menu, which seemed a little pricey ($48.00 for a chicken for 2), we read the rave reviews of their rotisserie chicken and decided to try them out. Upon entering the restaurant which was totally empty on a weekend mid afternoon, a little alarming, we settled in and ordered a variety of courses. The apps were very interesting and tasty, though as I said earlier a little pricey, and we were enjoying the food and excellent service. Then the highly anticipated chicken arrived at our table. It looked and smelled good. Then we started eating it. Nice crispy skin, but extremely dry and overcooked, not worth the price for sure. Very upsetting. In their favor, I will say the waitstaff was excellent and the decor was very interesting, but I don't think we'll be returning unless they improve their game. I wish I could leave a more favorable review. Hoping the owners get their act together.

Went here for dinner on Saturday the 4th of Jan with my wife and 3 kids. Seating was great, the ambiance was very nice and the staff couldn't be any nicer. We had 2 younger ones with us and the staff was being very nice to them, joking around and being very accommodating to their needs and it made us as parents very comfortable bringing the kids along. We started with the Tempura which was a breaded fried seafood platter of shrimp, fish and scallops which the kids devoured. We went on to having Poulet Creole for two (rotisserie chicken), Steak Frites with fries and au poivre sauce with Cauliflower and Rotisserie mushrooms on the side. Food was absolutely amazing!!! The chicken skin had a great flavor and crispy crunch to it and the steak was prepared medium just the way we like it. Can say without a doubt this place is awesome from the staff to the food to the ambiance. Will definitely be coming back for more!

It was a nice atmosphere, with tasty food, at a reasonable price point. The menu has changed a few times since I started coming here but it has never disappointed.

Terrible food. Service was fine but everything we ordered was just God awful. The bread was so hard like it had been sitting for hours. If you're gonna spend this much on food it has to atleast taste good. I never leave reviews like this but my date and I just paid for the terrible food and left early and ended up just ordering take out instead. We hardly touched our entrees. It was disgusting.

The chicken is amazing and my 3 kids devour it like barbarians. They also have cremant by the glass! The table butter is fresh with giant sea-salt chunks. After the chicken, I recommend the oysters, the ratatouille, and any fish special that they have. The drawbacks: the front of the restaurant is dark and looks dead... and they only have one high chair in the entire restaurant! I mean what are they thinking on the UWS? Bring your own booster or travel chair for baby.

I came here a few weeks ago and my order was incorrect AND not properly sealed. When I contacted the restaurant they were closed so I left a message explaining and never got a call back. They don't seem to care, at all about their service to costumers.
