We happened upon this sweet little cafe and decided to stop in for lunch and to get out of the cold. Had the half soup and sandwich - clam chowder soup and chicken salad sandwich. Both were yummy and a great value. The hot chocolate with honey was amazingly delicious. Friendly staff, excellent food and service, will definitely stop by here again on my next visit to NYC.

The best cafe in the city in my book. The staff are very friendly, the food is great. It's a locals' favorite. I come here every day and I love it.

Got the lox bagel on everything- bagel was 10/10 but the amount of salmon was 3/10 - it is a criminally small amount- one strip of salmon. Cream cheese was excellent and tomato was quality but there were no capers ??. The cost was the same as a lox from other shops with 3 times the salmon. If it was like $10 then the value would be there. But with that said -inside it is super tiny (4 two tops only but it makes up for the lack of size with charm. The two ladies behind the counter were not super friendly but very professional which is nice.It was a stead stream of customers from 9:20-950 so the place is known and used by locals.

Ordered cappuccino. No foam, WAY too hot, bitter even with 3 sugars. One of the WORST cappuccinos I’ve ever had and at $10!!!!

Extremely rude short lady and also got our order wrong! We live in the neighborhood and have come to muffin cafe since living in the upper west side for three years. We’ve always gone inside the cafe with our dogs to order and eat outside. I’ve seen other people do the same as well. There is a certain way to speak to your customers when telling us no dogs are allowed inside and two short women were EXTREMELY RUDE while doing so. This isn’t how we should be treated or spoken to especially as loyal customers. I’ve recommended this cafe to all of our friends as well and this is how we are treated?! You guys have gotten our order wrong before, multiple times and my husband and I have not complained once. So this is incredibly disheartening to be treated as such. I went back inside to tell your employees there is a certain way to speak to your customers and instead of apologizing or accepting what they were told, another short Mexican lady behind the counter was beyond rude. This isn’t professional whatsoever. Nor is it right for you guys to speak to people this way. If you guys want to change or heighten your policy, then learn to do it a certain way for those of us who have been coming here for a very long time! Until then, sort your employees out.

My go-to coffee shop on the upper west side! Recommend their brewed hazelnut iced coffee, croissants, and pumpkin cakes when in

I had a very upsetting incident with Muffins staff this morning. I am a frequent customer of Muffins and often recommend it to friends and neighbors. This morning I went in with my small (5lb) service dog, ordered breakfast, and proceeded to sit down. The woman behind the counter told me I could not eat inside with the dog, so I let her know it's a service dog. She then told me it does not matter and that service dogs are not permitted to sit at a table (by the way, my dog was sitting on my lap very quietly - so was not on the floor or disturbing customers - AND I've seen many dogs sitting inside Muffins before).Regardless, this is illegal. Under the ADA and New York law, businesses and facilities that serve the public must permit a service animal in all areas of the facility where customers are allowed or the public is invited. Denying this is considered discrimination.

The food and drinks are great but I was told there's no guest toilets by one worker only to see another customer get a positive answer from the other worker. In my book that's piss-poor hospitality, there either are or aren't toilet facilities (for paying customers of course). Playing favorites with regulars vs casuals/first timers is totally unacceptable.

Literally the best coffee on the UWS if not the entire city! That plus the delicious baked goods and the service with a smile make this place my favorite morning stop.

Muffin was delish. Disappointed in my drink. Went bc they had hot cider on the menu. But when I asked for it I was told it was "too early." It was after noon so I'm not sure what that means but it shouldn't have been on the handwritten menu if they didn't have it.

Just had tea. Wanted a dessert too. Not a large selection. Asked for a cookie, and told I could help myself to the jar of cookies on the shelf. Passed on that option. Don't like the idea of anyone sticking their dirty hands in a jar to grab a cookie. There was parchment paper nearby to use to pick the cookie, but I still found the idea to be less than sanitary. No cookie for me.

This is an absolute UWS gem. The bagels are excellent, the perfect combination of crisp outside and chewy inside. The staff couldn't be nicer.
