Definitely a great place for special events! The thoughtfulness and artistic presentation of each dish down to every detail is amazing! Wonderful service which is remarkably unforgettable!

All perfect! Delicious food, typical Japanese place with very kind and efficient staff, very decorated place with the possibility of eating on the tatami! It should be noted that he is the first Japanese to have opened in New York and there were Micheal Jackson and Noval Djokovic in this place

Since we were a party of 7, they offered us a tatami room, which was a perfect choice. They even had chairs with backs, much appreciated by the older members of our group! We had three children with us and they loved the sushi and hot pot. The service was excellent as well. Thank you!

Perhaps the most reliably-good restaurant in Manhattan. Food is always prepared perfectly and delivered by courteous and dedicated servers. I love the soba salad. The restaurant makes their own soba noodles daily, and they are exquisite. Sushi and sashimi are always top-notch. Just a super restaurant.

My only regret is that I didn't find this Japanese gem years ago. It's quiet—you wouldn't know you were 3 blocks from Rockefeller Center. The service is friendly, attentive, & professional. The food (we ate for lunch) was outstanding. Highly recommend the Soba Salad with buckwheat noodles. The dressing?! And also the thick cut Sanuk Udon noodle soup with mushrooms and shrimp + asparagus tempura.

The best soba I've had outside of Japan, full stop. The rest of the menu is really great as well, but the soba deserves special mention.Service is great, as you would expect from a Japanese restaurant that's been here for decades. The restaurant is also a lot bigger than you might expect from the small frontage.Just a focus on service and great food -- no pretense whatsoever. Sure beats any experience I've had at those atrociously overpriced, mediocre quality, pretentious places people go to to be seen.If you're looking for just a nice quiet evening with great Japanese food and great service, this is your place.

A wonderful treat!!! A real taste of Japan in a very traditional setting. We lived in Tokyo so know a thing or two about authenticity. Food was delicious and people could not have been warmer or friendlier. Just lovely!!! Great way to end the year being nourished by food and kindness.

I've been trying for YEARS to find myself both in a restaurant that serves fugu sushi at all and to be there when it's actually in season. Nippon made our experience unforgettable! It's no surprise that the Japanese printer minister has eaten here!A lot of online comments about eating fugu said it's bland and fairly tough (these comments were not talking about Nippon but eating fugu in general). At Nippon, it was light, tender, and slightly sweet, which is a statement about the skill and expertise of their sushi chefs! Very tasty!Thank you Nippon for helping my son and me to check off a bucket list item!
The sushi was delicious and traditional. None of these crazy Americanized rolls. We sat in the back where it was nice and warm and quiet. I was surprised to see many Japanese prime ministers have eaten here. Would come back next time I'm in NYC.
This is authentic Japanese restaurant. I'm glad they kept that way for many years. Congratulations for management team. Food was excellent and atmosphere is pleasant. Service is also excellent, very attentive and pay attention to detail to elevate customer's feeling. There are a large group dinning at the time. Waitress told me it gets little noisy because of that. However, I appreciated it that they are apologetic.

Epic and vintage experience and the food is excellent. Nippon has the private dining tatami seating and they don't charge outrageous prices to book them. The range of japanese food stretches far beyond sushi / sashimi. The service is exceptional and friendly. The history of the place speaks for itself but its nice to see how much the staff cherish the legacy of the restaurant as well. Pretty cool that so many japanese prime ministers have eaten there.

Two recommendations: a few more choices on the lunch menu would be good; and although I know NYC is infamous for high restaurant prices, I think your pricing is way too high all things considered, especially for Sushi and Sashimi items.

This restaurant has been around for many years but has managed to maintain its high standard. It is so nice to be able to come back, year after year, and find the quality to be consistently high.
