Great food and great price!

I love custard buns from Panya , not overly sweet , yet enough sweetness to satisfy . I can eat three of it! I also loves cheesecake and so does my husband. We've only tried sweets, never try bento, but they look good, too. Highly recommended for quick bite.

Place had gone down the hill, no more pan-Asian snacks and meals, in absence of Japanese and Korean NYU students studying remotely. Sad… pre-Covid,it used to be an excellent bakery when it was a hole in the wall, with a 24/7 bakery in basement supplying all the Asian restaurants with bread and pastries.

I really loved this place pre-pandemic, and I'm so glad to see that they made it through. Came here about a month ago and while I wasn't planning on stopping by, I just couldn't help but pop in. One thing that I noticed was how the crowd had definitely dwindled down and also their assortment seemed to be a lot less. I don't quite blame them as I wouldn't be pumping out breads and pastries if there wasn't the community to purchase them. It's too much food (and also costs) wasted at this point, especially after a hard year on the business, in addition to inflation costs going up currently. One of the things that I love most about Panya is their cakes. It's not a ginormous selection, but what they do, they do well. PROS - very good with the small selection they had - decent assortment - usually almost enough seating space (diminished crowds or did I go at a good time?) - service usually on point CONS: - could have a better selection but maybe i'm being picky? Their mousse cakes are a favorite of mine. I got them both pre-pandemic for a friend's birthday and also recently (mid pandemic?) and it hasn't changed in quality or consistency. The first flavor that I got was hojicha! I haven't seen it since though and this was about 2 years ago right before COVID hit. The second one that I got was a matcha mousse and it was just the same quality and consistency, just a different tea flavor. I do like matcha (but i LOVE hojicha) so hoping to see this out there more often. I was not aware of the online ordering system though so I may try to see if that is on there or doable anyway!

I’ve come here a few times, and most recently tried their Japanese breakfast. The buns and other to go items (katsu sandwich) are pretty good. However, I thought the dine-in Japanese breakfast was a bit lacking. The salmon was overcooked and dry. Their coffee was also not very good. I’d only recommend their bakery and other to go items.

I arrived here today around 11:00 AM and Pan-Ya was closed. Was hoping to try the Curry Pan ?

Not a macaroon fan but this place makes great macaroons japanese style. Buns are great. Savory ones like the spicy curry bun are my favorite but kind of greasy. Occasional treat ?

Delicious Japanese pastries and breads. On the sweeter side.

3.75/5 I passed by this spot a few times while I wandered the area and the sign just drew me in. This spot was a cute little Japanese bakery that also sold some hot meals and cafe items. They also have a $10 card minimum. I'm glad they had some really cheap small loaves of milk bread and raisin bread. They also had macarons and a pretty decent curry pan (the curry lacked variation in the texture but it was pleasantly peppery and flavorful). The bread itself was a bouncy texture with a bit of crust. Overall I was happy with my visit. Nothing too special but a good quick stop.

Decent spot, prices are pretty good & the quality is great. I got the ham & cheese croissant for $2.99 and a large vanilla latte for around $4. The only downside for me is that I asked the person behind the counter about allergens since I have a food allergy and their response was lackluster and not that encouraging. Glad I tried this place & will be coming back again. Just hope they'll have some clearer outlines on what contains allergens and what doesn't.

Guaranteed good food at this place. It's a nice restaurant with friendly workers, and from prepared to packaged food, it's all great. If in the area, come here to grab a chill breakfast.

Just a lazy Saturday afternoon and looking for a coffee shop in the area. We originally stopped by The Bean first but it was super crowded so we just went next door to Panya. This place is super cute and much more cozier and has a mum and pop feel to it. It was late afternoon and I think they were closing up. There were only 4 other people in here so we were able to grab a table pretty easily indoors. Service was nice and friendly. Ordered a I believe a green tea tiramisu cake to split with my friend. Also ordered a mocha coffee but I recall it being piping hot. My friend wanted some exotic dried teas from Africa, but they ran out, so she got a regular flavored tea instead. She also wanted her tea iced, but they don't have that option, so they gave us hot tea and a cup of ice. She's an Asian woman, so her ancestors are definitely rolling in their graves. Overall a cute place to stop by for a break.

My literal go to place whenever I come to NY, Javier and the staff here are so welcoming and the food here is just so delicious! I highly recommend the Japanese pork cutlet curry and the spicy curry pan if you get a chance to come here. There’s so many food options here and the quality of food and customer service is just great!
