This was my favorite local japanese restaurant for years, and my family went frequently. But they closed at the start of the pandemic, and never reopened. I miss them.

Hey guys, never fear this is still the same Sharaku we have known and loved for 20+ years! It had been 10+ years since we had last been here, and after reading sone of the reviews we were somewhat puzzled and hesitant but went for it anyway. Excellent decision! The Jumbo Village sushi was just as fresh and awe-inspiring as ever, a real bargain at just $28 considering what you get elsewhere for that price. Unagi (eel) was freshly grilled and warm, yum! Yellowtail and tuna were outstanding, but the salmon was the star in my opinion, just the right temp and creamy texture with none of the stale aftertaste I sometimes get elsewhere. The other star goes to the Uni (sea urchin) sushi which was just perfect, representing top quality and freshness. They still got it!

one of my favorite restaurants + i've lived in nyc my whole life, it has great prices and very fresh sushi. i like to get bubble tea across the street or snacks from sunrise market afterwards!

Very good, always fresh, affordable sushi. Spicy rolls have a great kick. Lunch specials are generous. Mid-week sashimi special has fish from Japan- sardine, amber jack, horse mackerel. Orange clam sashimi is amazing.

One of my go to place to eat during weekends! They have a great lunch special which includes entree, soup , fruits, and salad plus sushi!! Who can beat that in Manhattan?? And also includes green tea and great hospitality!! I often wonder how are they staying in business for only charging $14 for the deal. It's really unheard of and def wanted to keep this hidden gem a secret! :)

I order a main course and I left the entire portion because, for me, the fish was old and smell bad, the server never ask me if was everything ok, but she only cares about circle the tips suggested 15-20% on the receipt.

Recommended by a good friend, I was definitely not disappointed. My sister and I tried the "treasure boat" and absolutely loved it. Service was even better. Waiter Ang especially was there to greet us and serve us patiently throughout the whole time. Most definitely returning with my boyfriend to try the "love boat" next time around.

Highly, Highly! recommend this place went here with my boyfriend. And i must say this was one of the best Japanese restaurants i have been to. Since it was our first time here our server sherpa made us feel comfortable and explained each dishes very clearly. The place was quite cozy and relaxing. We had love boat, and it was perfect for the two of us. Will definitely go back!!!

One of my favorite low key spots in the city. Friendly folks run this place, food is delicious (I mostly get sushi), prices are super affordable, and there's usually an open window table. What more could ya want?

A neighborhood haunt. Affordable. Pleasantly peaceful. A very good sushi lunch or salmon lunch special. It's nice to sit in the sun by the big front windows.

Service was very bad, in terms of being very slow, even though there weren’t a lot of customers. Expensive, bad quality, not fresh food. Very disappointed.

This place was pretty empty although the restaurant was at a good location. The waiters didnt seem to care much. They were nice and didnt give attitude but had no motivation. When ready to order, two waiters just kept talking to each other until they realize we were eyeing them and waved. We chose the pre-fixed salmon dinner set. Price was worth it for a miso soup, salad, rice, sushi, salmon sushi and the whole salmon with few pieces of broccoli and carrots. Very fulling for $23. However, food was average. Dessert a red bean paste Japanese pancake that you can buy at any Japanese supermarkets. Even after sitting for around two hours there were still very minimum amount of customers. Location is in the heart of St. Marks which is a good location. But food, atmosphere and customer service needs more work. Overall, wont be back.

It's like a Japanese diner. Food is served fast and hot with no frills. Will definitely go back
