I recently visited Sofrito in Harlem with friends for a delightful dinner and drinks experience. The ambiance, with views overlooking Riverside Drive and the water, was truly breathtaking. Plus, their valet parking for only $20 was a convenient perk given the area's parking challenges. Now, onto the main event – the food! I opted for the whole pernil with rice, beans, and sweet plantains, priced at $40. The portion size was generous and utterly satisfying. We also indulged in their chicken, beef, and Cuban empanadas, all bursting with flavor. Personally, I couldn't get enough of the beef and Cuban varieties. The Chuletas De Cerdo were juicy and impeccably seasoned, while the chicharrón de pollo and carne frita were equally enjoyable. The atmosphere, enhanced by a DJ spinning classic and current hits, made for a memorable experience. While the service was quick, we felt a bit rushed out by our server(s), which was slightly disappointing. Additionally, some dishes were a touch too salty for my taste, and the tables near the windows felt a bit cramped. However, despite these minor drawbacks, I would still highly recommend Sofrito for a fantastic dining experience in Harlem.Parking: $20 for valet

Beautiful views and venue! The appetizers are really good but the rest of the food is mid. We had the spinach and goat cheese empanadas and they were so good.We came for salsa dancing which started at 8pm but no one was dancing so wasn’t sure if it happened or not. Would def be back just for vibes.

This restaurant was exceptional, from the valet to the host to our server. My family and I were extremely satisfied. The food and drinks were so delicious. We did go when there was a storm, so we had the restaurant to ourselves. But all in all. 10 out of 10!

Overpriced, mediocre service, $20 valet parking, lacking cleanliness, sticky tables and music too loud. If this place wasn't so expensive, it would be worth it, but they charge as if they were a 5 star when in actuality they're a 3 star.

Valet parking charged $20. Food was good but very expensive. Place did not look as clean as I expected, floors looked messy and tables were sticky. The waiter takes a 20% gratuity chuck and was not as attentive as expected, he did not come and check on us unless we waved him down. There was a large group next to us that was loud and twerking, which seemed a little rachet. Overall not worth the amount of money spent.

Went for a birthday celebration. The bartender was nice, but the drinks were terrible. I thought it was just mine, but my cousin confirmed that the guy put too much ice in all of our frozen drinks, and they were crunchy and weak in flavor. I don't know if that's how the restaurant trained him to do the drinks, or if it's just his skill. My other cousin went back for a drink from a different bartender. That one was less friendly but the drinks were better! (That seems to be the standard with bars in NYC- the mean people make better drinks)The restaurant ambience was much better than I expected and the DJ was on point! Then came the food. My empanadas tasted like they were fried in lard- not very tasty to me. But my cousin loved her veggie empanada. The main dishes all looked appetizing. The arroz con pollo looked worth writing home about and my cousin said it tasted very good. The fried chicken looked crispy and delicious. The salmon dish looked fit for royalty and was very well plated. The mofongo with ropa vieja could have been plated a little better, but everyone else said it looked delicious. The meat was very moist, tender, and flavorful. But the best part for me was the mofongo. I've had some hard, dry mofongo. I've had some crispy mofongo. This mofongo was perfect! It definitely made the dish. I would have liked some other vegetable with the dish added as a side: maybe peppers or something. But the mofongo was so good, I kept eating even after I was full! I wanted to save some to take home, but that moisture and flavor was very enjoyable. While some of the servers could have been a little friendlier, they did a good job keeping the water glasses full and tables clean. I get very thirsty when I eat, so I appreciated not having to flag down a waiter for water. I haven't seen a restaurant with designated water pourers since my college days in North Carolina, over 20 years ago!I would recommend this restaurant for dinner or for a hangout at the bar. Not sure if they do a club thing after, but if they use that same dj, it's definitely worth a trip to chill with a tasty bite and good vibes. And don't bring a cake for them to cut unless you want to pay $5 a slice. Seriously, they could have given us a knife and let us cut it ourselves. Given that we spent almost $600 total, I wasn't happy that we couldn't enjoy the cake. Booooo!Vegetarian options: They have a few vegetarian dishes. My cousin was vegetarian and didn't complain. Just be advised the prix fixe menus DOESN'T include vegetarian options- a big miss in my opinion.Kid-friendliness: The kids seemed happy with their meal, and they had juice for them to drink.

Went last night, party of 8, 3 of which were children. The waitress kept reaching over our plates to grab dishes/ glasses off the table instead of asking for us to give it to her or saying excuse me at the very least, she also kept spitting when she spoke to us. The appetizers are better than the actual meal. The bill came out to over $700 with a 20% gratuity included, that’s calculated automatically in your bill. We did not give an additional tip, being that they had already charged the tip. Then the waitress rushed us to leave as we were packing up the photos that we bought from them. Which by the way were 14 photos at $20. This was my second time going there. The first time I had a better experience, this time not so much. One last thing, the music is so loud you can’t hear anyone talking to you at your own table!
