My friends and I came here for brunch and were not disappointed. I had the jerk chicken wings and shrimp & grits, both of which were fresh and full of flavor. The staff were pleasant enough and the prices were fair. I'll definitely return when I'm in the area next.

I had the fried red snapper (with crab and shrimp on top) with mac and cheese and collard greens and the Street Corner cocktail. I also had the fried shrimp appetizer. Everything was delicious. I don't remember my waiter's name but he was great and I left him an extra tip in addition to the 18% that's automatically added to the bill. The restaurant is small and narrow and can get a bit congested around the entrance and bar area, particularly when people are coming in for the evening show. But other than that, no complaints. I'd definitely go back.

We attended the show on the lower level and had dinner along with the performance. The food was excellent ! Baked stuffed shrimp were truly superb. Two great tasty salads and nice wines. The musical performance was very enjoyable. The service was excellent on every count. Intimate cabaret setting. We will be seeing more shows here for sure.

I was really disappointed we ordered a salad entree and waitress told me they don't have roasted corn a big ingredient in the salad. We said we would take anyways. They charged us for a split fee still $2 plus salad was $15 but was more like a mediocre side salad

Loved everything but the fish tacos. Very bland even the guacamole, in fact, all the components of the tacos were bland. Also would have appreciated if the tortilla would have, at least, been warm.

I came to celebrate my husband's birthday and from our entrance to our exit, we felt like we were at home with family! The food and entertainment was outstanding!! I am letting all of my family and friends know to come there for the best experience.

I loved the atmosphere, staff, food, drinks, and service. The best 60th birthday I ever had in my whole life. I was laughing and crying. The band was fantastic! This is a great establishment that I do not mind spending my money in. Every bite of the food was very tasteful and pleasant to eat. I had the catfish appetizer, red snapper with shrimp, collard greens, cornbread and macaroni and cheese. Delicious!!!!

90 minutes prior to our 6:30 reservation, the restaurant called to inform us that because we would be waiting for the show they could not seat us at 6:30. Instead they would seat us “ upstairs where you can view the show via a monitor'. Upon arrival, we were placed at the corner of the bar while waiting for “ your table upstairs to be prepared, and we will try to find you a table downstairs “. Remember we had a 6:30 reservation in the main dinning room. At 7:45 we were still waiting to be seated. Eventually, we asked when would our table be ready? Sent upstairs after a 1:15 minute wait. Horrible Horrible experience.

Lovely people. Having a coat check especially for eating upstairs seemed unreasonable, especially because it was not crowded and the reason given was because coats would get in the way. There was plenty of booth space. Food was so-so, not terrible, but fairly average.

They had a show scheduled for the night I went. We had the option of private dining if we weren't interested in the show. We went upstairs to a nicely decorated room that had a television and and great old school playlist in rotation. From the moment we arrived the staff were super friendly. Our table wasn't ready so we were allowed access to the bar while we waited. I can't remember the drink my friend got but it was topped with red wine and was pretty. I stuck to a regular rum punch and it had a punch. We did not get to meet the chef but I feel like I owe whoever they were my deepest gratitude because their hands had to be blessed by the ancestors. We were indecisive but the waitress gave some options and hit home runs each time. For appetizers we ordered calamari which is my go to and was seasoned to perfection, catfish strips, mango sauces wings-not my go to but we're hitting and crab cakes. I enjoyed how well the seasoning and onions were minced together to create perfection. Sheesh. For the main one of us ordered the seafood pasta that had some nice size cuts of seafood while two of use ordered the filet red snapper with Mac and cheese. One of us ordered collard greens and the other ordered candied yams because we wanted to taste both so why not. Rounded that off with an order of plantains. I have a tendency of taking things out I don't like or eat. Not that night. Nice size red snapper. Max and cheese was cheesy and seasoned. Enjoyed the cinnamon on the candied yams and the crust on the plantains. Of course we had to have dessert because why not. It's been a long week and we deserved it. One of us got a chocolate cake and I got the bread pudding. I don't eat bread pudding on a regular so I was stepping out of my comfort zone and mannnn. It ended everything perfectly. Wasn't too sweet. Hit the spot. This was my second time here but this experience amazing. Maybe it was the company I was with or the energy of the staff. Either way I recommend.

I heard The Robert Silverman Quartet on a Tuesday night. They seem to be there once a month or so. Every minute of that evening was thrilling. Great music, great performances from a great band - and really good food was just a added treat - never eaten there before - and cost less than I would have thought. I had serious fried chicken, mac and greens. The real deal. Wife had blackened salmon, perfect. Had a wonderful evening. Only complaint was that two hours went by so fast. This is why we live in New York City.

The hostess was an hour late. We sat at the bar until she arrived. The place needs an upgrade. Tables were wobbly. Drinks were good, food so-so. The ambiance was like being in a dive bar. Fix the place up.

Such a great way to spend an evening! You like R+B? You will love it here. Excellent food. The talent that shows up for open mike night is just amazing. Really friendly environment.

Sugar Bar is stupendous. My wife and I are visiting with my son and his family. We're native New Yorkers visiting from LA. Now that we've experienced Sugar Bar we've been recommending it to all of our friends. We enjoyed Sugar Bar so much. We're having dinner there again. We're going this evening. Friday night December 15th.
