We have our thanksgiving dinner here. It’s really nice Chinese food. We think that it deserves a Michelin star.

I don’t understand it a bit⋯
I might have expected Chinese style but the result was not very Chinese... maybe a bit too innovative.

Yingtao offers an elevated dining experience, honoring the owner’s grandmother with both its name and the thoughtful approach to each dish. The restaurant’s sleek, modern interior and open kitchen immediately impress upon entry. The tasting menu is a carefully curated array of dishes with refined flavors, with the duck, toast, foie gras, and nian gao standing out as memorable highlights. The flavors here are subtly layered and delicate, showcasing a restrained elegance that even extends to the desserts, which are perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. Service at Yingtao is exceptional, among the best I’ve encountered. The front-of-house team is attentive and professional, and a special mention goes to Ria, whose deep knowledge of the menu enriched my experience by offering thoughtful insights and explanations. Yingtao is a beautiful homage to family and fine dining—a truly refined experience that’s well worth a visit.

The service and people were amazing, and the vibe was super classy. But the 8-course tasting menu didn't really tell a story or have a distinct identity. It was hard to tell what part of Chinese cuisine it came from—kind of felt like upscale American Chinese food. Think fancy corn soup, roasted duck, and dry steam fish. Overall, the food was just okay, but the staff was really friendly and nice.

This is one of the most delicious and creative tasting menus out there. I was very impressed by the knowledge and passion showed by all the staff members, especially the sommelier. The wine pairing is also exceptional value at $90 and has a good mix of classic and adventurous wines

This is for sure a pleasant surprise. As someone traveling around the world and dined at many Michelin starred restaurants, it’s hard for me to feel wow about the food. But Yingtao did that. Every dish is high quality and with its unique twist. I love the pigeon as it’s so flavorful and perfectly cooked. The congee is creative. The toast is so delicious. I won’t be surprised if yingtao to get a star sometime in the near future as it’s better than someone star I’ve been to. I had a short conversation with the young Chinese owner who name this restaurant after his grandmother. I like his aspirations to establish this high end French restaurant with Chinese elements. This is one of the best new restaurants in NYC!

My wife & I went to NYC for the very first time to visit our daughter, and she made reservations at Yingtao. The experience of the tasting menu was extraordinary. I really enjoyed watching the kitchen staff work on preparing the courses for the patrons. The focus and discipline they exhibited would shame a Marine. The servers were engaging, welcoming and took a real interest in explaining the individual courses. Our evening there was definitely the highlight of our visit. It was an unforgettable experience that I hope to repeat in future visits.

The fall 2024 4 course prix fixe was incredible. Highlights to me were the toast and nian gao dessert, but everything was super well executed.

As advertised, the food (prix fixe menu with wine pairing and all the supplemental options) was surprising, beautiful and delicious.

The service we received from Riea (and the rest of the team) was exceptional and truly made the evening special: from the unobtrusive Happy Birthday placard and unexpected seat at the kitchen counter to subtle details like rearranging settings for a lefty like me, we felt like we were the only people in the restaurant.

Well worth the splurge, and cannot wait to go back to try the a la carte menu at the bar!

I wouldn't say the food here tasted chinese. But it was still pretty good!

I went in a group that got the 4 course meal.
I especially liked the Squab main dish which came in multiple different fun components. The hake was alright.

The appetizers were all fun, and the toast was exquisite with a nice chewy bite and really nice savory/sweet flavor topping.

The rest wad alright.

Also, be prepared for how hot it is if you're not by the bar. I was sweltering.
