We ate on the "bistro" side of the restaurant. It's a beautiful space with a large bar and a good amount of tables. It was busy, but not crowded. Our server, Nickolas, greeted us warmly and was able to seat us right away. The food was amazing! We shared some appetizers and had the salmon entree in lemon-caper sauce and the vegetarian red beans and rice. It's so nice to find a vegetarian entree that doesn't feel like an afterthought or like it's trying to be a spin-off of a meat dish. It was filling and loaded with different proteins. The menu is LARGE and it was hard to choose.Service was so efficient that it seemed effortless. Nickolas was always smiling. It was a little noisy, but it's such a beautifully weird space that noise must be impossible to control.Highly recommended.

We had the Prix Fixe' dinner for Valentine's Day. The food was excellent and the flavor profile very well layered and nuanced. In specific we chose the Grouper and Filet Mignon options. The tapas for appetizer were varied and just the right amount for a starter. Some of the preparation elements (sauces and purees) are available on the regular dinner menu. Note, The Terrapin has both a Bistro and Fine Dining section, this was in the Fine Dining section.

Four of us dined here last night and everything was delicious! We started with the spinach artichoke dip and a mushroom soup and loved them. I got the leg of lamb and my husband got the pork chop, both at the recommendation of our waiter and both were delicious! The pork chop was very moist and huge! The lamb fall off the bone and so big I couldn't finish it. Our server was Patrick who was so funny and a great server. Food came out fast and hot and not a single complaint with the meals. The ambiance was nice, it's a concerted church with a lot of the churches touches kept for the charm. Absolutely would go back.

As always, Terrapin staff were phenomenal! The food is always delicious! The dining room was full, possibly belated Valentines dinners were happening. Another fabulous date night for my husband and I.

This was our second time eating a Terrapin and it did not disappoint either time ... very consistent! There were four of us dining to celebrate our daughter's 27th birthday and we all thoroughly enjoyed everything from the service to dinner, drinks and dessert. The ambience was very cozy at our corner table. : ). We will be back!!!

We went to Terrapin for the Valentine’s Day Prix Fixe menu. It was 2 courses plus desert. The first course was tapas, and the second we had a wide array of choices. We both chose the short ribs and honestly everything was tasty. The desert we could take or leave - chocolate orange mousse and red velvet brownie with raspberry ice cream - both were only ok. The downside to all of this was price. We ordered the cheapest half bottle of wine possible and still walked out of there at $120 pp after tip. Despite the food being good, it was simply too expensive for what we got. I’ll still give it 4 stars for good food and solid service but we probably won’t be returning any time soon.

A nicely decorated large space. Unfortunately, the food was basic and not good enough for the price. The service was the biggest issue. It was painfully slow. Finally, we declined having dessert and asked for the check. Despite having declined the dessert the waiter brought us some cake because we “must have it” which is a nice gesture, but he did not bring the check as well. We had to ask for the check again and the whole ordeal took about extra 30 minutes we had to stay in the restaurant for a dessert we did not want and after we asked for the check so we could leave.

Always a great experience! Our table was ready right away, very attentive service and never felt rushed from course to course. The Horseradish crusted ahi tuna is out of this world and a very generous portion

What a disappointment. I've never in my life sent food back to the kitchen. Somehow the food was both flavorless and too nauseatingly rich. Incredibly over priced for the quality we experienced.

We had a tasty salmon and chicken. The desert was excellent and was the cherry on top. I highly recommend visiting and having a wonderful day night there. Rhinebeck is a beautiful town.

very nice, excellent service and delicious food, however we were in the restaurant almost 2 hours when it was otherwise empty waiting for our entrees. worth the wait but probably not the best choice if you're in a rush!
