This was our second trip in a week and while we normally would would broaden our ordering, our entrees were so good a few days earlier we ordered them again and once more the ahi tuna (Max always does a fantastic job with fish) and the citron were absolutely excellent so a good choice in our part. We did switch up the appetizer to the tomato soup and oh my gosh it was so so good— tasty, chunky, hearty. So good. Finally, don't want to gloss over the bread (I'm Italian— bread is very important!). Both nights had great bread with excellent crusts (the raisin bread was especially delicious). Look forward to our return in a few weeks!

As nearly always, the food was excellent. The citron is a go-to dish I that never fails to please. The ahi tuna was delicious, cooked perfectly, and huge. The mussels were tasty, plump, and numerous.

We had dinner at Max's of Eastman Place before attending an RPO concert. The service was excellent, the dinner was great. My favorite part of this restaurant is that fact that it is quiet. We were with another couple and had no problem talking with them without raising our voices. Not only that but we did not hear the converstios from the other tables. What a pleasant evening.

Snails were Meh but pasta citron and roast chicken were fabulous, as was creme brulee. Great service, knowledgeable and helpful, except he forgot the appetizer order until the entrees were served. But we got a break on the bill to make up for it. So convenient to our concert at Eastman Theater across the street. We will certainly go back.

Recently had my first trip to Max of Eastman Place and I was blown away. The service and ambiance was only surpassed by the filet special I had. The menu has both classic foods you want to see at a nice restaurant as well as a few new twists. I particularly enjoyed the baked Brie that came with a mushroom topping, the savory flavor was different and incredible. Definitely planning to come back here!

The trout with brown butter sauce was AMAZING with added Spanish almonds, raisins and capers. The vinaigrette-like French dressing on the salad was delicious. Best meal I have had in some time!!!

A busy and loud Thursday nite. Morgan was an excellent server dealing with high volume. Daily special app seafood/sausage chowder very hearty and filling. Seafood entree of the day vanilla scallops was 'weird & wonderful' and worth the risk. Grilled squash accompanying the salmon entree was another unusual and delicious touch.

Steak Tartar, Seafood du jour- sea bass with beans, mixed seafood and trimmings. Chicken Breast with potatoes and trimmings, all excellent. Drinks: Dry Riesling and generous Manhattan--all excellent. Triple Chocolate cake and Tiramisu--the cake was not sufficiently thawed but tasty and generous. Tiramisu was very good like so many others. Service by Morgan--Attentive, friendly, respectful and a pleasure.

So different from a few years ago. Entree not met description in menu. Several orders not hot, guests served at various times at the table. Disorganized, very sad.

Max is our go to place for dinner. It is always great. We do wish there was more variety on a regular basis. Yes, there are "features" 1-2 each of appetizer and entrées, but it would be good to also overhaul the menu a bit. Great atmosphere, always good service, especially if we get Margaret. We do miss the valet service. It would be great even if you could offer it Fri and Sat nights.

We had a pre-concert dinner at Max Eastman that was delicious. The menu has a good variety of choices from which we had a difficult time deciding what to order. We were very satisfied with our selection. My wife had the trout which she said was perfectly done and delicious. I had the Spaghetti Citron which was also delicious. The service was very good with attentivness to our schedule to make sure we did not have to hurry to make the concert. Al in all a very good experience

The only part of the night that was exceptional was the service from our waitress. My wife had the pork chop and they forgot to put the potatoes on the plate. When the potatoes came, they were really hard and not cooked all the way. I ordered the NY strip steak medium rare, and it came to me completely overcooked, no pink in sight. The chef agreed it was overcooked, and after 15 minutes I received a steak that was rare, still not medium rare. When desert came, they ran out of vanilla ice cream and had to substitute caramel. We averaged about $100 a person with drinks and dinner, and at a restaurant that is supposed to be higher end, mistakes in cooking shouldn't be a problem. If it wasn't one of the only restaurants that was in walking distance to the Eastman Theater, I wouldn't come back here again.

In our experience of several years, Max has most often been a safe bet for quality food and excellent service. A group of four of us came in early on a recent Tuesday evening, 5:30, and in a minimal amount ot time had placed our orders, which were either one entree per person or two appetizers to be eaten simultaneously. We thought we should have had a leisurely dinner before a 7:30 concert at Eastman, but at an hour after arriving, no food had been served, and there was no one else in the dining room (a crowd was beginning to gather in the atrium, but we were seated well beforehand). When we alerted the server that we had a concert to get to, our dinners did come out in the next 5-10 minutes. Food was good to excellent. And then we had to wait and finally ask for the check after finishing. We're hoping this was a one-off and service will continue on its generally excellent track record. Our recommendation for customers: if you tell your server at the very beginning of dinner that you have a specific timeframe, they'll work to accommodate, especially on a quiet week night. The food will be high quality and enjoyable.

Second time eating here and is always a winner. Tender, juicy and flavorful steaks. Seafood is excellent. Classy dining experience. Great wine and bar selections.Dietary restrictions: Accommodated with requests for no sauces on the filet mignon.Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access with wheelchair on first floor.
