This restaurant just can't get it right. The place is usually dead, even on Friday and Saturday nights. The service is unbelievably slow, and meals are often not delivered as ordered. The tavern fries are greasy and limp, the mac and cheese is soupy and the cheesey pull apart bread is basically the rolls they serve with your meal. I wanted to give this place a chance because sometimes the food is good and it's a quiet place to talk with friends compared to many noisy restaurants.

Cake was really good. They have great dessert now, in case you visited before they started carrying it. I had chocolate. They also have a peanut butter and a couple different cheesecakes. The kale chicken salad was good too.

A good hot spot to stop off for some good food before Downstairs Cabaret, Geva , Eastman, or whatever at the Auditorium Theatre. Terrifically friendly staff

Such a disappointing experience. When this was Tavern 58, we were frequent diners because of the quality and service. Last night was our first visit to this incarnation of Tavern & it will be our last. We had 7pm reservations on a Saturday night (8/4) and went inside to let them know we arrived for our outdoor table for 4. We stepped into the bar (empty) and the man behind the bar (he was also the host, perhaps the manager?) took two full minutes to acknowledge our existence. The old version of Tavern used to be packed on Saturdays. No diners were visible inside. We were eventually seated on the "side terrace" which was full of dead hanging baskets and chairs that we had to clean off ourselves before sitting down. Outside, there were two other tables waiting for their checks. They did not seem happy. I now understand why. We waited 15 minutes for water. We were given a food menu, but had to ask twice for a drink menu. Our waitress was terrible. She acted like she had a packed restaurant and was overwhelmed when NO ONE was there at 7 on a Saturday night. Service was so painfully slow. She never told us about specials, so we asked. "Oh, we still have the seafood...." - which made it like it was just a leftover dish that hadn't sold in the days before. She didn't tell about dessert. She brought us our check and we had to flag her down and ask about dessert. "We don't have a dessert menu, but I suppose I can tell you that we have mini Bavarian cream pies." We opted to get dessert elsewhere. After waiting nearly 30 minutes for her to get our credit card, we had to go inside and asked someone else to cash us out because she didn't return. When you are spending $200 with dinner and drinks and there are so many GREAT options in this city, you expect decent service. The food was fine (even though the chicken skillet was not served over spaghetti as described, but over a thick elbow pasta), but not great. Service was simply inexcusably subpar. We do not recommend Tavern at Gibbs and won't be back.

Don't go there if you want fresh food smh. Had the stuffed meatballs to start, dry and obviously not made fresh that day. My wife had the crab cakes. Frozen and was mush. I had the burger which was decent. Best thing I had was the fries.

Went there tonight to try it out. My wife ordered the burger which was really good. I ordered the meatloaf and it was like sawdust I sent it back. Service was good. Owner came by an apologized. Took the meal off the bill.

Had a delicious dinner last night! The chef brought us a complimentary appetizer that did not disappoint. Our stuffed artichoke appetizer was so good, the sauce was pretty much licked off the plate. I ordered the salmon which was fresh, tasty and paired nicely with tender and flavorful veggies.

We went for a birthday celebration on Sunday evening. The ambiance for the outdoor seating area is good. The waiting staff is friendly but service was slow. We ordered the wings to start, they were good. The salad however was not impressive... quite plain. The dinner entrees we got in the party included the prime rib, grilled prime rib, chicken, and sirloin. The bite of prime rib was good, but over salted. The chicken was well seasoned with a nice crispy skin, but not worth the asking price. My sirloin was overdone even though I had asked for medium. Overall, the experience was fair. Maybe I'll go back at a later time to decide whether this will be a restaurant I will visit frequently.

This was our second time visiting Tavern at Gibbs. The first time, we chalked up the glitches in service and the food, to the fact it had not been open that long. Tonight we returned, and things were no better, actually even worse. No makings for Mojito's started things off on the wrong foot. Burgers ordered medium rare were well done, toppings listed on the menu were not on the burgers, and it took over 45 minutes for the food to arrive. The manager did come and tried to make things better, but I'm not sure we will give them the chance at a 3rd strike.

What can I say about this place...SPECTACULAR! Food, service, and location were amazing! My partner and I start to finish enjoyed everything this place had to offer. Our server Abby was kind, sweet, and amazing. We hope to get her again next time we come back. YES we are coming back! Patio is great and beer selection was to par. Can't wait to try other items on the menu. Highly recommend this place. Thank you for topping our day, definitely the cherry on top of our wonderful day off.

A local gem! Friendly and attentive staff, delicious food and drink, and lovely outdoor seating with the most romantic lighting perfect a summer night out. French onion soup, fish & chips, and wings all cooked and flavored to perfection. Thanks to our server Abby and team for making our visit so nice. Can't wait to return.

Somewhat disappointed. Special of the night was a prime rib. I had ordered it medium rare.it came pretty much medium well . had waited long enough that i ate it but did complain. It was also somewhat tough. My potatoes were good but not hot. It was also served with 4 spears of asparagus. They were good but not enough. Two other of our party orderedthe same but there prime rib was fine. The manager did apologize and gave us a $10 discount. Atmosphere was conducive to conversation. Which is rare in any resturant on a weekend. Great music in the background. I probably would try it one more time.

The hot wings and three cheese mac n cheese is my go to with a large selection of local ny beers, also plenty of out door seating!
