My husband and I came here for the first time this past weekend. We were immediately seated after confirming our reservation, and our server (I wish we got his name/remembered!) was amazing!! He was very good about telling us where everything was sourced from, and he was also very convincing about how good the food they served was. I was interested in the Amish Chicken but was skeptical since I had no idea what a cream sherry was. When I asked him about it, he answered that it was rich in flavor and that he really enjoyed it. He must have still sensed my hesitancy and said, "Would you like to try some?", which I was so surprised about! He brought me over a small bowl with the cream sherry, and it was really good (savory with slight tartness to it). Everything we ordered was amazing, but it was his service that really made our experience so wonderful - thank you SO much!! We will definitely be back again!

This was our first time visiting The Cub Room. We received a gift certificate and used it for our anniversary dinner. I can’t say enough good things about the night. The reservation process, the greeting from the hostess, the stellar service by our server (Caitlyn), the delicious food, and the ambiance (loved the music list!) made for an unforgettable experience.

Nice spot for breakfast. We were trying to get a table on Sunday morning. The wait time was around 30 minutes much faster compared to two other places.Service was good, I love when waiters recommend some of their favorite dishes. We got a bottle of mimosas and some appetizers to share. You can’t go wrong with mimosas but as for the appetizers it was so small. I mean definitely not a shareable size.I got avocado sandwich with two eggs and salad for the main course. It was ok, but nothing special. Again I expected a bigger portion for that price but maybe it’s just me.P.s. brunch menu did not have many options.

We've been here a few times now. The last visit was on Valentines Day so it was a pre-set menu. Their Grilled Octopus Appetizer (regular menu) is one of the best Octopus dishes I've had. First, parking - they have a small shared off street lot. There is plenty of street parking, just pay attention to signs and traffic. The inside is cozy and welcoming. The drink options are excellent (but they can add up). Service has been good each time we've visited. Try the grilled octopus , the paella special or any of their fresh pastas.

The food was very disappointing. Especially for the cost. We had a shrimp appetizer that was basically little frozen shrimp bathed in a vat of oil with no flavor. There was a pork belly appetizer that was more like a slice of pork roast than pork belly and was nothing special. We had a lame pasta dish that was the equivalent to Olive Garden and a mahi mahi that was fine but nothing special. We had a really good cocktail though. The ambiance was nice enough and the service was fine. But for what we spent, there are much more delicious places to eat in Rochester.

I ordered the "left over," Paella. Unfortunately, the Paella was burnt and unedible. The dish came recommended by a server, so I was looking forward to it. There's too many places that serve a fantastic brunch in Rochester to return here again.

It was busy the night I was there, bar reception for a wedding couple I believe. I ate in the restaurant with 2 others in my party, so loud we could hardly talk.We Ordered and split paella; tasty and flavorful, but mostly rice.Parking at 6 is not impossible, but don't expect to park in the lot.

Noisy due to the structure and lack of sound absorbing features of the room. Food was delicious and service friendly.

Although the quality and understated creativity of the food is outstanding, it is undermined by both the loudness and the genre (heavy metal) of the music. I had a very well prepared and delicious wild halibut which ended up as my date, because the music was so loud I couldn't talk with my actual date who sat across the table. Maybe they should have a moshpit to match the music and we could have interacted physically, even thrown the halibut at each other. What happened to the cozy tables that I used to sit at?When we asked why the high volume and why that genre...we were told the owners chose it because they are trying to reach out to a different clientele. They sure don't want me and maybe I should take the hint. The Cub Room's become a stylish urban venue/setting trying to attract a younger hip? crowd who have never been out of Monroe County. The restaurant has a dining area along with a nicely placed bar. The music might be fitting for the bar, but not the dining area.We had an annoying night. Maybe it was all a mistake, but I doubt it. I think it might be one of those so called "good ideas" that simply didn't work, yet it is there to stay. I think the staff was weary of telling the owners of diner's disapproval. Sort of like the Wasa Warship story which sank in the harbor in Stockholm. Who knows? I really loved the Halibut, but a bottle of beer without a glass and a bag of nachos would have matched the music better.Again, the food and service was great, but the ambiance undermined it.
