We were traveling from VA to Maine and stopped by Sleepy Hollow. Went to Horseman Bagel’s (also Carvel ice cream) the next morning and loved them so much we stopped on our way back to VA from Maine. The bagels and cream cheeses are wonderful and the service is top notch! Very friendly husband and wife duo. I highly recommend! If you don’t stop, you are missing out! We will be back!

I usually enjoy coming to Carvel but I must say I was very disappointed with my visit today. I come often and order the same thing every time a small sundae with extra fudge with peanuts whipped cream and cherry!!! Pretty normal sundae, & then I got my son a small strawberry milkshake.. My order came out to 16$ and change… A small sundae and a small milkshake $16??? I never had to pay this much with all my visits…

Sharing a recent experience as a heads-up: if you're ordering an ice cream cake from this Carvel location (or any Carvel location, as I have sorely learned) - call them DIRECTLY rather than using the Carvel website. This, however, is not where my issue lies with this location in particular…
For background: I pre-ordered a dairy-free cake online via the Carvel website a full day in advance for pick-up, only to show up and be told they didn’t have it, and that they don’t even offer dairy-free cakes at this location (it was, however, listed as an option on the Carvel website as a selection for THIS location when filling out the order form). Again, this isn’t even the root of my issue…
My issue is the fact that not a single person at this location who was aware of my order (again, made 24 hours prior) contacted me before I arrived — no call, no email, nothing. If I’d been notified earlier, I could’ve made other arrangements. Instead, I was left scrambling at 6PM on party day, without a cake, AND was CHARGED for something they couldn’t even provide…
The manager who I spoke to over the phone was not helpful and couldn’t even confirm if I’d be getting a refund. Shoutout to Brianna, the cashier, who tried to help as best as she possibly could (if I could give HER five stars, I would…)
Ultimately, I had to drive to a nearby Carvel (that, luckily, DID have dairy-free cakes), and they graciously gave me a cake for free after hearing what had happened.
As of now, days later, I’m still waiting on that refund….

Best ice cream in Sleepy Hollow and any of the river towns for that matter. Always fresh and often they often have no flavors that amazing! The ice cream is perfectly balanced and not too sweet. Epic toppings. The staff treat you with the utmost respect and seem to always go the extra mile. My only qualm is that they don’t have the same place in my town because I’d be back 3 times a week!! What an awesome place!!

Mediocre ice cream, limited flavors and pretty high prices. Additionally, the woman scooping the ice cream did so without gloves and her hand touched the ice cream. This seems like a health code violation to me. However, the cones came with a little drip catcher to hold them in. I have never seen that before and it was nice. Overall, this is a mediocre ice cream chain and I would not go again.
Needed something quick while visiting Sleepy Hollow. Decided on two milkshakes for me and my friend. Helped themselves to a nice tip without asking when I paid by credit card. Never again!

After attempting to get in for the third time, I finally found the place open. The other times were during their so-called business hours. I have to agree with the other reviews. This place is WAY, WAY, WAY OVERPRICED! Still had to give them the benefit of the doubt and bought the small milkshake, which came out okay, but not for the price they charge.
