I wish that I could give this restaurant more than 5 stars. The food is delicious, the portions are generous and the staff is attentive and friendly. Also, the prices are quite reasonable,

Came here recently with friends for a weeknight dinner and had a really lovely experience. It was a pretty quiet night, with only us and maybe a couple of other tables seated. This is a very casual, quaint Indian restaurant, definitely not the type of place you would expect to be on the Michelin guide based on the environment alone. But don't let the interior fool you, the food at Cardamom really packed a punch. To start we got the samosas and lamb/potato croquettes (which was a special) and both were delicious, but the samosas were definitely a must have. I could've just eaten those for the rest of the meal. We then shared the chicken vindaloo, chicken tikka masala, bhaigan bartha, lamb chops and garlic naan. I can honestly say all of our dishes were great and I would recommend each one equally. We also ended the dinner with masala tea which was not on the menu but our waiter offered (and was SO good, if they offer you tea, take it!!) The service was great all night, and when our servicer accidentally forgot our teas, Cardamom graciously gave them to us for no additional cost. Overall a great experience, I'll be back next time I'm having an Indian craving.

I travelled all the way from the UWS to Sunnyside to try Cardamom and it was decent. We got the lamb and potato croquettes, the prawn balchao, and the dahi puri -- each even better than the last with the dahi puri being terrific, not losing even a bit of its crispiness! For the main course, we got chicken xacuti with naan and although the naan was fluffy and sweet, the xacuti itself was very underwhelming. The gravy was oddly sweet even though we asked for it to be medium spicy which probably means their scale is not adjusted to authenticity but to cater to white people, another thing that 99% of Indian restaurants in the city do. It's particularly difficult, if not near impossible, to encounter an Italian restaurant in NYC where the food is changed to suit the taste of the consumer but so many Indian restauranteurs here are happy to "non-spicy, low spicy, medium spicy, spicy, very spicy" our food to death. Despite this, the service throughout was great and I don't mind giving Cardamom another try for a new batch of appetizers.

I have been meaning to try out Cardamom for a while but never got around to it, until this year's Sunnyside Restaurant Week. I am so glad I made the decision! Every single dish I tried (the samosa chaat, Chicken 65, garlic/regular naan, chicken vindaloo, tandoori chicken, and gulab jamun) was absolutely delicious and easily beat the vast majority of Jackson Heights Indian restaurants in regards to both taste and quality. The portions were also very filling and appropriate for the price paid! All of the personnel were quite kind as well. Cardamom's place on the Michelin Bib Gourmand list is quite well deserved. Will definitely be coming back.

Best Indian food in Sunnyside!! We went here for dinner on a Friday night during Restaurant Week and had simply incredible food. The place was packed when we arrived but the wait for a table wasn't too long, approximately 10-15 minutes. It's not too big inside so it's intimate enough for a quieter dinner for two but seemed to be able to accommodate a group of 4-8 with individual tables left over. Outdoor shed seating is also available with heat lamps. To start us off, friends and I shared lasuni gobi and samosa chaat, both spiced to perfection and absolutely divine, with super generous portions, too. The next course brought us vegetable vindaloo and paneer tikka masala with heaping sides of rice and garlic naan. There was so much left over we each had a small bag to take home. The vindaloo had quite a kick but was super enjoyable, not overwhelming. I paired this with a mango lassi (perfect to balance out the heat). For dessert we all shared rasmalli and gulub jamun. The gulub jamun (sponge cake-like balls in rose syrup) was the star of the two, but the pistachio-adorned rasmalli was a very close second. The service was super warm and welcoming, too! Ready to answer questions and make recommendations. Will definitely be going back soon!

Love this place! Food is incredible and spot on every time. Also the owner is very accommodating and friendly. Had a mixup with my order and went out of his way to make it right. The go to Indian food spot in the neighborhood, will keep coming back!

Hidden Indian cuisine in sunnyside! The service here was excellent, my party and I were constantly being checked on. I appreciated that the waiters ask how spicy you would like your dish. I noticed there was Indo Portuguese dishes, definitely unique. I ordered a standard butter chicken that came with a side of rice and peas. Which I could not finish alone, definitely servings for two. Spacious space, great for a get together with friends. There is also a gender neutral restroom.

A few weeks ago, we used cardamom to cater a party for 50+ people and they were wonderful! They were on time, friendly and responsive. All the guests loved the food — it was all very delicious! Thank you again!

Oh Cardamom! Where to begin. The owner, Anil, has brought a gem to Sunnyside, Queens. My wife and I have been going here ever since he took it over a few years ago. Indian food is my jam and I have a very discerning taste for it. I have also had it all over the U.S. and overseas and I would put Cardamom up against any others. We have tried so many dishes and every one just \"brings it\" every time. We recommend the Nilgiri Korma, Vindaloo, Saag, Rogan Josh, Butter Chicken.....don't get me going. It's all SO GOOD! I am an active Yelp reviewer and Cardamom is the only restaurant that I have reviewed more than once. I truly believe they are just a breath away from getting their first Michelin star. Once that happens it will be impossible to get a table so you better go NOW!

9/21/22 my family an I went to Cardamom Indian Cuisine in Queens. My son-in-law had raved about this place and how good the food was. Liking Indian food I was excited about going. First and foremost we were quickly seated and our server was extremely helpful. Both my daughter and her husband have been there several different times so they knew exactly what to order. The owner came out and spoke with us and he was such a nice gentleman. Overall I saw the service was excellent For starters we got the vegetable Samosa they definitely did not disappoint it was a crispy turnover that was stuffed with potatoes and green peas the flavor was outstanding and the sauces to go with it were absolutely marvelous. Next we added the spicy lamb dish of Nilgiri Korma this dish absolutely just melted in my mouth the fresh ground met the coriander leaves in the coconut to finish it off was just one of the best dishes I’ve ever had. And Indian food. Next kind of butter chicken which is my daughters favorite dish it had yummy cubes of chicken and it was cooked in a creamy sauce I think tomatoes and yogurt gravy oh my goodness it was just lovely. Another dish with the Vandeloo spicy ham oh it had curry and rice coconut finish we got every one of these in spicy because we love the hot spices. She cut me a meal we got the garlic naan bread with cilantro and then again we got one of my daughters favorites which was the tomato rice basmati rice was flavored very well and was also excellent. If I could give Michelin ratings this would be one that I would write about and give stars to. I know Main‘s to we finish all of this meal. So of course we took home leftovers for later. And I said a touch the meal was a wonderful little ice cream dessert with that little round cake tasted like it had been soaked in honey. Which only complemented the mail more. Thank you for a Memorable meal and excellent service.

Amazing experience. The food was exquisite and the customer service is beyond great! Can't wait to visit them again.

I love Indian food and nothing is better than a tender, saucy butter chicken. Unfortunately cardamon has been missing the mark for quite some time with this dish. Butter chicken should be creamy and so tender that it will just break in your mouth. Maybe they got a new cook or something else but this dish isn't the butter chicken I'm familiar. Chicken seems to be tough and reheated, it was very disappointing. Don't understand why it's also shredded. Cardamom is great restaurant, I will keep coming but they need to step it up and fix their butter chicken prep.

Beautiful location. People were very attentive. Disappointed with food. Not up to the mark. Tried the vindaloo which is good but the rest others were just regular you can find the same food in Jackson heights for cheaper price.
