Worst gravies I've ever tasted. Threw them in the garbage. I'll stick to making it at home.

My wife had an out-of-town work trip, and we wanted to grab a bite of breakfast before heading to the airport. So, we pulled off the interstate in Union, KY, to try out Boomtown Biscuits and Whiskey. Boom Town offers warm, rustic options serving elevated comfort staples such as biscuits plus whiskey cocktails. My wife ordered the Fools Gold, another popular dish. This came with two biscuits, two eggs that were ordered scrambled, Sawmill Gravy, and bacon. The biscuits she received were dry; the gravy was very thin and overly sweet. The biscuits needed the gravy, but the sweetness of the gravy made it hard to eat. The eggs were scrambled well but over-seasoned and very salty. The bacon was crispy, offered a good chew, and was cut to a suitable thickness.I ordered the Yukon sandwich which comes with fried chicken, sawmill gravy, smoked cheddar, bacon, an egg ordered over-easy and Yukon fries. Our waiter told us this was one of their most popular dishes. The Yukon fries were cut like wedges, had a nice crust on the outside, and were soft on the inside. The seasoning on the fries offered good flavor. However, it was heavy-handed, which overpowered the fries. The sausage gravy was thin with a peppery but sweet flavor that was too much for my taste. The gravy also had chewy pieces of sausage. The biscuit had a good crunch on the outside and was fluffy and soft on the inside. The bacon was both crunchy and chewy with good flavor. The chicken was overcooked and nearly burnt on the outside. I could taste some good heat and flavor in the breading towards the center of the piece of chicken, but with most of it being overcooked, it drowned that out. The egg was ordered over-easy; unfortunately, it came out over-hard.Boom Town has a full bar and offers craft cocktails all day. They serve their entire menu all day. Their menu has sandwiches, plate entrees, and desserts. The waiter and hostess were amiable and helpful, and the ambiance was neat. The rustic old-time look and feel were welcoming. We tried two drinks that were not reviewed, and they were excellent. The Fat Man says that Boomtown Biscuits and Whiskey is NOT Fat Man Approved.

Best biscuit I've ever had. Drove from Dayton to check it out and the drive was absolutely worth it. Poutine and chicken and waffles highly recommended.

A friend of ours from Independence told us about this restaurant. We made the drive from Cincinnati on a Sunday afternoon. Our party of 3 was seated at the bar. We were waited on by Devin. We opened with The Gold Shoes biscuit trio. Three incredible (INCREDIBLE) biscuits with a sampler of 3 gravies (goetta, peppercorn, and sawmill). How do they make the biscuits that buttery and rich? The gravies were excellent too. The goetta gravy was particularly delicious. Our party had The Barnyard Chicken sandwich, The French Dip sandwich and the Yukon chicken biscuit. The Yukon came with cheese grits, and the sandwiches came with fries. Every single item we were served was three thumbs up!Devin was a gracious and interesting host and we also got to meet Chef Jeff. The place is loud and they should make no apologies about that. The bar has an incredible selection of bourbon (it’s Kentucky and has “Whiskey” in its name). I have a few selections in mind for our next visit. And all three diners were impressed and happily stuffed.

Yummy and unique food! The biscuits melt in your mouth. Entrees are great portions. The Gold Fever and Rhine Poutine can typically last me 2-3 meals. The drinks are always delicious too! My go-tos are a classic margarita or the Union Station.

Considering the service ( welcoming and friendly) , food (phenomenal like momma's) , atmosphere (rustic and homely) THIS place is a 10/5! The GM, Nancy is nothing short of amazing. She personally sat us, checked on us, and took the time to talk with us. Our server, Maria, made amazing suggestions and made sure we loved our choices. The bartender, Seth was on point with our adult beverages. We shared the Mimosa Flight, Chef's Bloody Mary, Spicy Magarita, Rhine Poutine, and New Saddle. Even though it was me and my boyfriend today, we cannot wait to bring our 5 children. There is something for everyone on the menu. The only complaint is not having enough room in our tummy to try everything, so I guess we'll have to come back again and again.

The service was just as amazing as the food!! Our server, Maria was great! We tried the spicy margarita and the chef's bloody mary, and Seth killed it, they were nothing short of amazing!! The GM Nancy came to check on my girlfriend and I and talked to us about our experience. She was very warm and inviting and we couldn't help but tell her that everything was beyond exceptional!! We tried the New Saddle and the Rhine Poutine and they were unbelievably good!! If I could give them 10 stars I would!! We will definitely be coming back!!

Five stars all around. They have so many unique options. The atmosphere really took you in making you feel like you wanted. Something warm and cozy served on a skillet. Service was great, friendly and provided information to help us make our decision. The brussel sprouts 10 out of 10. The best ones I've ever had in fact woul swap those out instead of the fries.Loved the waffle biscuit!
