I worked next door for years and never ate here. My uncle wanted to go for his birthday and I am so glad we did. The food was great. Next time we might come just for the dessert! The shrimp appetizers was great! The soup is delicious. All 5 of us got something different and everyone was very happy with their meal! We will be back.

No matter what you order, the food they serve to you is HUGE! It's all freshly made and delicious! Their waitstaff go above and beyond just serving you food. I highly recommend this restaurant. It's high-end, but more than worth it. The atmosphere is very romantic. I suggest you make a reservation. My compliments to the chef. So far, the two desserts I've are their key lime pie and their white chocolate raspberry cheesecake. If you're too full for dessert, you really need to take some home.

I hadn't been in a while, then met some friends there with my wife. Yes, it's still as good. Filet Mignon was very tasty and cooked just as ordered. I won't wait so long to get back.

My friend and I celebrated her birthday with a wonderful dinner tonight. We both had the rib dinners and they were delicious! The spinach sip was also very good. The key lime pie was one of the best I've had! Our server was Dylan and he was excellent and very attentive! Thank you Dylan for making our experience delightful!

Usually, it is amazing.Food and service. This time, we ordered what we have ordered the most *French dip*By what I call a mishap the Azu was salty When I complained to the waitress, she said she would tell the manager. I ate part of the sandwich without the azu, after finishing our food and waiting we finally ask someone else to bring us our to go box and or check. The young lady brought us a box and told us that our waitress would bring us the check. We got it and payed and on the way out I stopped at a gentleman and ask if he was the manager and he said "yes" I said "I didn't know if she told you but the azu was salty..." his answer was "Yes azu is salty" I told him "yes, but yours is never that salty that is super salty" Then he said " I should taste it.What I truly expected was that the manager would have stopped at our table and addressed the issue and he could have said it's salty then and I could have told him the problem was that it is never that salty it must have been a fluke and he needed to check it.

150$ for a 20 ounce steak I cut 9 ounces of fat off from. Deviled eggs were cold and walmart quality. Waited 10 minutes after arriving with a reservation made 10 hours prior. Service was mediocre 15 -20 minutes between even seeing our waiter.

Ordered a to go cypress salad. For 20.00 you think the few tomatoes they had in it would be bigger than an eraser at the end of a pencil. Looked like I had 1 and 1/2 thin slices of cucumbers cut in half. The whole salad was a joke for 20.00 to go.

This was our first time here. Loved the food. We had prime rib and the ginger glazed rib eye. Both were delicious. Also the salmon dip was alot better than we thought it would be. The chocolate martini was to die for. We will definitely be back.

Here's a casual review of my experience at J. Alexander's:It's been quite a while since my last visit to J. Alexander's, probably over a year, maybe even longer. The recent few times I went, the service was just awful, especially from the bar. In the Dayton, Ohio scene, this place is considered upscale, and I can agree with that to some extent. The decor is nice, with comfortable seating, fancy tables, and good tableware. However, the quality of the water leaves something to be desired. It tastes unfiltered, which is not something you would expect from an upscale establishment. And while I do appreciate the use of number 10 cans in some recipes, it doesn't make up for the fact that J. Alexander's isn't truly upscale. The menu prices don't reflect an upscale dining experience, and they don't cook with 100% fresh ingredients. Now, I must admit that my wife has always been satisfied with her order and drinks. Personally, I've enjoyed their black bean burger, but I'm not a fan of their small pixie fries. I usually opt for the broccoli instead. Since the Covid-19 pandemic, the mixed cocktails at this location have been disappointing. The Mojito, for example, has too much lime and barely any rum flavor. The mint leaves either overpower the lime or provide no flavor at all, usually this drink is sweet but tonight more savory, I questioned if they were mint leaves or basil lol. I'm not sure what their recipe is, but it's definitely not a true Cuban Mojito. I ended up returning it. On the other hand, my wife's Cindy’s Lemon Drop was really good. I tried to switch my Mojito for her Cindy’s Lemon Drop, but it never made it to our table. By the time we were done eating, it was time to leave. The service was okay, considering our waitress Natalie seemed overwhelmed, especially on weekends when it gets busy. I think she did her best, and the kitchen kept up quite well. Will I go back to J. Alexander's? Yes, but not on a regular basis. And I'll probably never order from their bar again.Note: pre-covid their bar was one of the best in our area. I do remember back in 2017-2018 they had twice the bartenders.
