The dish I ordered was all in one bowl...don't like the fact that I had to dig thru just to get to the potatoes...wht is it so hard to put it on a plate?

Very nice place. Although I've lived the majority of my life in Elyria, this was my first time visitiing the Black River Tavern. It was a very pleasant experience.

Location is amazing I will give you that. The food on the other hand not so much. I was so excited to try the food too! I think this could be a great menu if they stuck with tavern food. We did not have great food at this location. Stick with the bar food not the specialty items they are trying and you should be fine. Gourmet prices and not so gourmet food.

Dined there for a late dinner with my partner. I hadn't heard of this place before so I was curious to check it out. The atmosphere was nice. The tables are made out of real wood which was super neat to see. Our server was friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed all of our food! I loved the ranch dressing! The ONLY downside I would comment on is the fact that the music playing from the kitchen was loud enough to be able to hear it very clearly from our table and it was just as loud as the music playing overhead so that was kind of annoying and distracting. We didn't mind either type of music (one was rap and the other was more radio/popular hits) but we just didn't enjoy listening to them both playing at the same time over each other. However, we did have a later dinner as I said (arrived around 7:40 and they close at 9) so I understand to an extent that as things wind down, the kitchen might just turn up their music as they're winding down for the night. If we visited again, I think we'd make sure to come earlier so we don't run into that again. Overall, we were happy with our food and service. We will most likely visit again in the future and I would recommend to a friend!
Went for the first time on burger night. $5for half pound plain burger. Asked for medium well and was cooked perfectly. Also had wood fired pizza. This was excellent. Will be back on a Monday for 9.99 steak night. Thank you Cassandra for answering all of our first timer questions and excellent service.

We went to Black River Tavern which is at "Eagle Valley", formerly "Spring Valley Country Club". Plenty of seating & bar area. Outdoor seating too. The menu switches some things season to season. The Elyria Apple Salad is wonderful! Spinach, mushrooms, cured bacon served warm--but cheese & Granny Smith apples garnishing it!
