As far as the food hall goes, there are several places here that have decent food, but at any given moment half of them will be closed. I thought the point of a food hall was to provide a group with multiple possible options and it kinda fails at that. Lunch has more options than dinner and don’t even bother if it’s past 7 PM. Plus most of the food options are very carb heavy - poutine, pasta, ramen, sandwiches. If that is what you are craving, it’s awesome but otherwise be aware.

I was enjoying a very peaceful evening at van aken that was disturbed by a large police presence. When i asked a security guard what was going on I was told it was “preemptive action on account of all the teens in the area.” While there were many teens in the area, from my perspective (and I was in the area for multiple hours) these teens in question were causing no issue and were patronizing the businesses in the district. This “preemptive action” caused far more disturbance than these young people themselves. After an hour or so the police had cleared out all the young people in the area. These young people were black. I have a very hard time believing the police would have been called if they were white.

Walla it was nice . I like trendy spots with a different vibe. They just need one more attraction not food related. Maybe a stage for a band for an arcade or something . Everything they have is food.
