Stopped in prior to a show at covelli centre, very good pizza and food, excellent prices, was so good stopped back in after the show. staff very nice and friendly - short walk to covelli centre would definitely return

Meeting up with friends in Youngstown for the afternoon, we were hungry and looking for good food and a safe place to spend time together. (Both couples were in town from different neighboring states.) The Avalon Downtown came recommended on this site and by locals we spoke with. Both of our pizzas were tasty; lots of spinach on one, the other prepared half and half as requested. The signature chewy crust was darn good! While we felt pretty safe because we were able to sit at a table up front, behind us, every table was occupied and full, as was the bar seating, with nary a mask in sight. That said, coming in from a neighboring state, I never was able to determine the current Ohio state guidelines for capacity in restaurants and bars. If we find ourselves back in Youngstown, we wouldn't hesitate to go back to the Avalon Downtown! The pizza is terrific!!

Stopped in on a night before an event at YSU. It was busy, and it took a few minutes before anyone came to seat us. The store is has two sides, on side with tables and a bar and another with just tables and the register for carry out. It can get loud in the bar side. There was 2 of us so we were able to take a few seats at the bar. The place has a lot of exposed brick and wood which adds to the over all feel of the place. It is loud when it fills up on the bar side. Bartenders were attentive got a few menus and our drinks. We ordered some cheese sticks and a briar hill pizza. Food came out quick, especially since the pizza is made to order. Cheesesticks were really hot and cheesy. The pizza looked excellent, lots of Romano, and was made with fresh ingredients. We added sausage and Hungarian peppers to our pizza and that really set it off. It’s a sweet sauce so if that isn’t your thing, maybe try their white pizza. The pizza was still soft but had a nice crisp to the crust. It was cooked perfectly. Overall a very good pizza. I would reccomend this as a great place to stop before any event downtown, unless you want something quick. If that’s the case, call ahead and get carry out, you won’t be disappointed.

We are going to miss their pizza. Going back to Florida for the winter. Had to get a spinach and a Briar Hill before we left. The sauce on the Briar Hill.is out of this world good and the spinach was excellent. Service is always great and the atmosphere terrific. If you want good pizza I definitely recommend Avalon downtown Youngstown.

Service is a little slow if you are dining in but well worth the wait. Great beer selection too!! We got a briar hill and spinach and feta. Highly recommend both!!

I hadn't been here since it used to be Avalon Gardens back in the day, and I was glad to see it hasn't changed all that much. The Brier Hill pizza is still incredible. Definitely some of the best food in Youngstown!

I really like the atmosphere of the old building that Avalon Downtown is in. The staff is friendly and our Pizza was pretty good, as were our Deep Fried Mushrooms. I only give them a minus in one area. It seems like they use plastic cutlery which you get from a counter. It was a bit hard to eat the Deep Fried Mushrooms with the plastic forks.
