Very close to State Capitol building. Smithsonian quality museum. Great displays over a span of topics. They somehow acquired a real space capsule used for Skylab. They also have one of the better displays of Indian culture that goes well beyond beads and baskets. Plan on at least 90 minutes (I spent over 2 hours) but you might need to put more time in because...When you come in a docent will give you a map and proceed to give you an "orientation". This orientation lasted about 15 long and painful minutes as he went over every major thing in each gallery. If you absolutely must give an orientation, please keep it down to one minute or less. Just point out restrooms, café, and that galleries are found on the first and third floors. Otherwise just say that you are available for any further questions and let guests be on their way. They need plenty of time to see the displays and don't have an extra 15 minutes to waste on an orientation.

We had a fantastic experience hosting our company holiday party at the Oklahoma History Center Museum. We worked with Gabriel and he was prompt and professional. Easy to work with and made sure to have everything done ahead of time so we didn't have to worry about anything. The facility was beautiful, and we will be back in the future!

We visited on a Saturday and basically had the place to ourselves! I thought it was an outstanding museum that is fairly priced. These days it can get really expensive to visit museums, but this one had just the right amount of exhibits and interactive activities for the reasonable $12.50 adult ticket. I didn't see too many things that little ones would enjoy though. Parking is free (and plenty) and there were some sights outside to enjoy too.We are not typically big readers at museums who view every placard, but we found the exhibits very fascinating and spent over two hours here. I would highly recommend the history center to both people from Oklahoma or out of state!

Went here just as a last minute decision after driving by the State Capitol. The Oklahoma History Center is a little difficult to find the entrance & parking, but after driving through neighborhood, finally found it. Discounts Available: Senior (over 62). FREE Admission: Active Duty & Veterans + their dependents (June 29-Sep 4, 2024). This museum has a wide variety of very well done exhibits, from wrestling, aviation, native Americans, pioneers, oil & gas, black history. It is very well laid out, allowing you to visit what you are most interested in, or have time for. I highly recommend everyone seeing it, Okies and visitors alike! Plus it is a beautiful and well maintained facility. It would be an awesome place to have parties or meetings!

Just down the street from the capitol building in a beautiful building, the Smithsonian affiliate History Center was worth the visit. We only spent 1.5 hours and should have spent 3 hours to get to dive deeper into the excellent exhibits. As someone from outside Oklahoma, I particularly liked the Inasmuch section and how risk takers and entrepreneurs impacted the state and its people.

This is an amazing place to visit if you are in Oklahoma City for a day, for a week, or if you live here. The History Center is packed with excellent things to see, well preserved, meticulously organized and clearly explained. You will learn not only about history of Oklahoma state but also culture, manufacturing, music and space exploration.

Hubby and I loved this wonderful museum. There were so many interactive areas and lots of information on Oklahoma history. We visited on a Saturday, and it was not crowded at all. We were able to take our time and enjoy the museum. There were exhibits on space, transportation, Native Americans, and Oklahoma companies.Wonderful place to learn about Oklahoma and celebrate its history.
It has lots of historical stuff. Plus other things like pictures of stuff back in history and lots of other things to look at and read and also places to sit down ever so often is pretty cool going there and learning about all the historical stuff. I think it's a pretty good place to go when you're trying to learn about history and stuff like that it is called the Oklahoma History Center so there is lots of history in it.

We stopped by here on Saturday and we're standing off to the side. The security guard was extremely aggressive.. He approached us banged on my wind, He asked "what was I doing here!? " Before I could get a word out he aggressively yelled at me on the top of his lungs, then said does this look like a parking spot! MOVE!! My young child and friend and my friends that were there are witnesses. He was about 5"11 to 6" tall, larger African American Male.Hopefully someone can advise him not to be so aggressive he could've just said ma'am you can't stand here move to a parking spot.It was totally unnecessary to scream at me without even giving me a chance to respond.

Today my tutor and homeschool co-op business (ALIS LLC) visited this place. I took a group of my students and we split up to a 1:4 ratio, utilizing four chaperones and two assistant chaperones. We had an amazing experience! We learned so much. This was the first time that we have ever visited this place and honestly, I didn’t think it was a museum all this time. A problem did arise that DID NOT involve the Oklahoma History Center and they were ON their toes to help. We appreciate that! Anywho, we are looking to visit again, because two hours isn’t enough time to really dive into all the artifacts and exhibits there.

What a great museum! It has a total of five galleries on two floors. It is definitely a hidden gem in Oklahoma City. I could've spent the whole day there, but only was able to spend two hours.I was fully entertained and plan on stopping here again sometime.
