We visited later in the afternoon on a weekday and still found a lot of delicious items still to be had including pies (strawberry and blueberry varieties) loaves of bread (regular & sourdough) cookies, tarts, macaroons, macrons, meringues (with a cute sign about not squeezing!) and date squares. There was probably more packed into this little space! This bakery seems to punch above its weight class. Everything we purchased was delicious, and the owner is just an exceptionally friendly gentleman full of gratitude for each of his customers. Glad we found this gem!

This is the best place in Ottawa to get your baked goods!!!! My personal favourites are the croissants and banana chocolate muffins. Not to mention the owner is amazing, I work close to there so I go at least twice a week. He remembers me every time and I always get a warm smile and a friendly chat. This gentleman truly makes my day shine when I visit his bakery, not only for the baked goods but because of his personality.

I came at 9AM there were a couple of baked goods. I simply asked the attendant who seemed to be the owner of the bakery if these were from yesterday. He got upset with the question, started laughing inappropriately and questioned if I was Canadian.
I visit this bakery once a week in the morning to get a freshly baked croissant. Without a doubt, I leave with buttery goodness straight from the oven and a smile every damn time. I have yet to taste a better croissant than at Brown Loaf. The owner of the bakery is probably the sweetest man you will ever meet, he is very kind and you can tell he loves what he does. I've placed large-ish orders for staff events and he didn't have an issue with the order. I've had strawberry shortcake puffs, white bread and a peach danish, all delicious! Highly recommend if you are in the Elgin area.

I go once (sometimes twice) a week with my partner to get croissants and other treats. The bakery is an Ottawa icon and truly is the best bakery in Ottawa. He puts so much love and care into all he bakes and you can tell. Great guy, great bread. 10/10 worth trying and going to whenever you can.
