Great place for a romantic dinner or to celebrate a special occasion with someone who loves Italian food. Highly recommend the pan-seared lasagne and mushroom pizza. We also liked the warmed olives + pistachios entree. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. Can't wait to come back again.
Pizza and pasta was excellent. Service was great . Only complaint was tightness off table placement. Couldn't get out of my chair without concern of bumping chair behind me and too close to table next to us.
Fabulous experience! Excellent drinks and delicious meals. We will be back to dine again. Fair pricing too!
Upon being taken to our table the first thing we were told was we had 1 1/2 hours time limit. While I understand turnover is necessary to maximize profitability it doesn't match the half empty restaurant we entered and our later than usual dining time of 815pm. The food was good. Our waiter was very good. It's not fine Italian dining which I knew before going. It's sort of roadhouse loud with an Italian menu. Would I say do not go... no ... would I rush back... no.
Food was good however the valentines special drinks were NASTY!! Tasted like medicine, wont recommend. Good service
Recommended by a relative and it was perfect to have a bite before an event at Scotiabank Arena. A fun upbeat vibe with excellent service and food.
Our dinner before the concert was a wonderful experience. Everything was delicious. Thank you
Would recommend to everyone. Great food and service. Gnocchi was the best I ever had. Peroni beer was awesome. Oysters loved ‘em. Close to Scotia bank 1min walk. Great if you're going to the game or concerts or just taking your family or lovers out. I loved it. And great value.
Overall we had a good experience. We were seated in the bar area where there was a corporate event taking place as well so very noisy and harder to have a conversation. Would have preferred the dining area of the restaurant especially since no one else had been seated there. One of us had chicken and the portion was too small. Server only offered water once and a refill would have been appreciated. Rigatoni a bit undercooked; good flavour though. We'll be back and hope my feedback is considered.
Service was fantastic. We were sat instantly and our server brought over water within minutes. We ordered an app (warm bread with oil) which was delicious. The oil was spicy and added a nice element to the bread. We also participated in the Taste of Winter special they had going on. My husband got the Diavola pizza and I got Tagliatelle Alla Bolognese which were absolutely to die for. The deserts included in the special were good as well. Food was quick, fresh, and hot. We 10/10 would recommend this restaurant and we will return!

I had a great experience at Taverna. Service was quick, the waiter was incredibly friendly, and I enjoyed all of my food. I got the olives to start, which were delicious. I had the ricotta gnocchi for my main, and the gnocchi was nice and pillowy. For dessert I had the tiramisu which was a nice, light dessert to end the meal with.
I highly recommended Taverna Mercatto the next time you are downtown Toronto. The ambiance, cuisine and impeccable service were top notch. Special thanks to Matt for making my daughter's birthday so special!
Very tasty dinner with a good size serving and great dessert. wine expensive in our experience. Service good.
The food was ok . Decent . Service was poor , our waiter was handling 10 tables and seemed quite disinterested in us and just wanted us out . Ambience was amazing , place looks good .
Mushroom pizza was soggy in the middle, but the Arctic char was delicious. Service was a little slow, but okay.
