We booked a two night stay recently in a cabin at $175 a night. I called to cancel due to poor weather a little more than 72 hrs before scheduled arrival and I was told I would get a refund. What I was not told was that I would only get refunded for one, rather than two. So they kept $175 of my hard earned money. I could understand that if they were heavily booked but this was for Oct 8-9 and when I checked availability in late Sept. for most of their cabins, they were available. So my cancellation would not have resulted in lost revenue from another potential occupant. When I normally make travel reservations and cancel 3 days ahead of booking I am used to getting a full refund. These newcomers owners recently spent $3 mil on upgrades and I guess greedy business practices help pay for it.

I am sad to offer the following review of a small resort that I have enjoyed several times.First, my online reservation for two cabins could only be completed with a credit card and I was charged a "convenience fee". At checked-in I learned my guests were not allowed to enter the cabin I had reserved for them. I was also greeted with litany of rules and fines, if violated. When I went to the marina to inquire about renting a pontoon boat for my group the staff was in helpful and surly. Later, my group wanted to order takeout from the lodge, but I was not allowed to take a paper menu back to our cabins for consideration of our food choices.Meanwhile, the blinds in the cabins were incredibly dirty and I don't know if there is a correlation but one of my group had a miserable allergic reaction. When I returned all the cabin keys at check-out I was not even acknowledged by the clerk. I don't expect to be treated like a celebrity, but I would the like the respect due a repeat customer who spends hundreds of dollars.

I grew up enjoying this lake and campground. Over the last 5 or so years they have been slowly phasing out RV sites to make room for expensive cabins. It is way understaffed and you have to book a year in advance for a cabin of RV site. My wife and I booked a cabin a year ago for our anniversary weekend this weekend. $900 for Friday and Saturday night (not even 48 hours in the cabin). We arrived around noon for a 4:00 check-in. The cabin was unoccupied so we asked if it was possible to have it ready early. Lacking any sense of customer service, we were rudely told check-in is at 4:00 and they have 3 people cleaning 13 cabins and they could not show any preference because we arrived early. I watched the cabin be cleaned and finished at 2:00PM so my wife and I walked back down and asked if it was possible to check in. Again, no customer service. We were told that until she is told the cabin is clean, we couldn't check-in and check-in is 4:00. I love this lake and have fond memories here. If you are coming for the scenery, you'll love it. If you are coming for customer satisfaction and a welcoming environment, look elsewhere. Probably the end of my memories at this place. It's a shame.

We went to lunch today just on the spur of the moment. No reservations needed for lunch this time of the year. Beautiful drive from Medford through the snow. Decided to sit upstairs in the lounge/bar area. Quickly seated, drink and meal order taken. We both had burgers. They were humongous! Plus came with sides; we got onion rings and mac&cheese. Delicious!! Very enjoyable lunch!!

Great weekend!!!!! We were blessed to spend Easter weekend here. The roads were clear on the drive up and we got some snow showers while we were here. Can't say enough about the grounds, the amenities, the staff and the view. We're here in summer for the lake, but during the winter, it's all about EVERYTHING!!! Don't miss winters at Lake of the Woods!!!

Enjoyed kayaking here. You could see fish jumping out the water! It was a great experience.

Terrible customer service. Recreation.gov is the worst site to get through to for camping reservations and then when you call Lake of the Woods they act like they have nothing to do with camping. So another words you can’t book a site online and you can’t get through to anybody I waited for over an hour on hold. I will never give them business again there’s too many nice spots other places.

We lucked out with a great camp site. Compared to other spots we were pretty secluded. The forest was beautiful. Saw some wildlife (deer and chipmunks and lizards). The lake was pretty packed with visitors, though the water was a perfect temperature on a 100 degree day. I will be back-

We decided to check out Lake of the Wood since we tried going there once before but we never made it because of the heavy snow back in January. So when we got there we had to pay $7 day fee to go to the three spots. Rainbow Bay, Aspen Point Campground and Sunset Campground. We went to Sunset and we were there for quite some time. My daughter's bf tried fishing and he had fun. We just hung out, enjoyed some Hawaiian music, had some snacks, drinks and food that we brought with us. We ended the day by checking out the resort's General Store and the restaurant before ending up at Aspen Point. Overall we would definitely come here again!!

Awesome place to be. Such an amazing campground, restaurant, bar, marina, lake, etc. The staff was great, and everything was always clean. We will definitely be back, hopefully sooner than later.
